FJB Ride for March Event

Post by Kurt Rahn »

My daughter, Maddie is ready to start doing kid karts (she would've argued that this is already two years late in coming). Does anyone with an FJB kart want to split rides at the El Toro event? I'm happy to pay for gas/tires/whatever to pull our weight. I want to introduce her to the sport at one of the El Toro practice days, where she can run a lot and get a lot of experience (no, running into the weeds two years ago doesn't really count). She doesn't necessarily have to run Sun. competition laps on the big boy/girl course, especially if that screws up the event's timing with a driver change. I just need to find out if she's really into it before I do something stupid/expensive.

Oversteer is better than understeer because you don't see the tree you're hitting.

Plans are being made to have a seperate Jr course for at least Saturday (unless we aren't given the room by the venue).

How old/big is she?

I plan on starting my son on the Saturday, which will be the most basic of instruction. But we've got an FJC, which unless she's too big to fit, might be a good place to start.

Definitely too big for an FJC. We already tried that....

See above reference to excursion into the weeds.

She's 9 and, luckily for her, has none of my size issues. She's normal 9-yo size.

How does she compare in height to Bijan? I'm working on moving him into Neelu's kart and she can try out in the FJC if they are close in height. Obviously she'll be closer to FJC times... I ran Bijan in FJB with the FJC kart this month.

I had pedal extensions and the steering wheel raised and she was still to tall for Robert's FJC a year ago. Maddy (age 9) is very similar in size to Neelu.
