Co-drive for San Diego & El Toro

Post by Wiggy Greacen »

Hey gang.

Cal club. This is my post from the Arizona gang's forum. I'm asking around again this year for a co-drive seat. I'm pretty sure I can make the March San Diego Practice event assuming I can sign up in time.

I'm begging for a rental ride for the San Diego Tour and El Toro Pro. I'd be interested in attending more National events. I don't win, but I like to be competitive.

I'm well known for over-driving and killing cones. I think I've mellowed a little with age, but I'll let other car owners speak to that. I can drive pretty much anything I can fit in. I don't fit in hard top Miatas and the Elise makes me terrified that I'll never get out alive.

I've volunteered to work with the core SCCA crew again this year. So my focus is on helping everyone have fun. I'm not going to be 100% dedicated to your car prep. I'll certainly offer setup advice, but there are several Arizonans (and lots of Californians) that are better than I am.

I really like STU and STR. A C5 in AS could be fun too.

I have several offers pending for San Diego, so I feel confident that I'm covered for the Tour.

Nothing firm for El Toro. I'm still looking to rent a seat for the Pro.

My thanks to everyone that took a moment to read this post.

Wiggy is a great guy, if you were at the banquet he showed up with the Berry clan for a surprise visit from New Mexico. Somebody hook him up! Our car is full for the Pro or I wouldn't hesitate to offer.

How do you feel about C4 (L98 powered) Corvettes for the pro.

Of course. That's my class. Realize I am going to get my butt kicked, but hey I get to benchmark against the best. Maybe I even get lucky. I plan is to just run BSP and let whatever happens happen.

Arthur - Please don't take this wrong, 'cause I pretty much like all Corvettes. That said, BSP is dominated by a few friends in Evo white. I've never beat TB. And it ain't from years and years of trying. I'm not buying the whole luck thing either. With MG and TB, nothing gets dropped or left out. They would pretty much need to leave one of the diffs on the bench for us to have a shot.

Jonathan - Thanks for the offer. I'm looking hard at options. I'm trying to commit to something in the next week or so. I'll let you know as soon as I know. Spec Civics are fun.

I don't take it the wrong way. Wasn't sure how competitive a ride you were looking for. I have a seat, which is the best I can offer. I don't think Tom in my vette could be Marshall in the Evo, there are reasons why you don't see very many C4 Corvettes anymore. It is however what I have and what I run. It' was Steve's endorsement that had me toss out the offer.

If you see a dark blue C4 in the paddock with grand sport stripes, it's probably me, stop by and say hi.

Thanks Arthur. I'll certainly say hi. You'd get a kick out of watching me in your vette. Maybe I can manage a ocal event with you one of these days. I do love torque.

I did rent a ride for San Diego and El Toro. Look for me in STU.
