Looks like the R class split in to two classes R1 (Mod +XP) and R2 (all P except XP) will not change things much since R1 will bump to R2 instead of bumping to B2. Indexes are now based off PAX with no adjustment to launch advantage. Class champion decided at the Finale.

Re: 2011 Pro Solo rules
Having the champ decided purely by the Finale is going to be the most talked about part of the new rules, I'd guess.
To me, it makes sense. Picking up points, the old way, can be really hard (think multiple top dogs in a class living within a couple of hundred miles of each other) or way too easy (think a typically well subscribed class and one dominant driver within that same couple/few hundred miles). So, the "meaning" of those regular season points really varies. Better to have a winner-takes-all shootout at the big show.

I was thinking the same thing. Better to decide when everybody shows up. Except for AS, maybe....Michael Wood wrote:Having the champ decided purely by the Finale is going to be the most talked about part of the new rules, I'd guess.

Thanks Toby. Will update the main Solo2.com site to point there.Toby Larsson wrote:http://www.scca.com/documents/2011%20Te ... 0Rules.pdf

Re: 2011 Pro Solo rules
Why should ASP, BSP and STU be softer at a Pro Solo?
Ladies class, which is based on index is now ruined even further. I sent my letter to sebscca.

Yeah.. welcome to the last two years for R1. Coarse the last two years Bev has had to run L2 with the thoeretical EVO's index.. even though no FP EVOs do ProSolos. Someone is always down and someone is always up. STU Sti and BSP EVOs will continue to be the cars to have in L2.
Street tire cars will also continue to have a fairly large advantage in the first rounds of a challenge over race tire cars, you play the hand you're dealt. Though I know when it's your lady getting the hand it's harder.

I should have kept my STi and rented it out to L2 chicks! I could have made a fortune! I don't think any woman in their right mind would want to run STR L2!

Re: 2011 Pro Solo rules
A "series" class champion based on one event - I don't get it. And what is this "zone" stuff? Very confusing. I heard that the new pax was coming but i dont actually see it in the rules. What section is it in? Can we add some more torque and hp to the gutless wonders to make up for it
Wondering why they "fixed" the series when it didn'tseembroken (except for the indexes, that is).

Re: 2011 Pro Solo rules
Series champion is still chosen from best 2 events plus the finale. Zone Champion is chosen from Best 2 zone events. Class Champions are chosen just from the Finale finish. Series was broken in that if you live on either coast you have to drive 1000 miles+ to get a second event.Leslie Cohen wrote:A "series" class champion based on one event - I don't get it. One wins a bunch of challenges. One wins a Class.

Re: 2011 Pro Solo rules
So, the previous years, there was Hoosier contingency for the class champion (points leader), and there was contingency for the Finale Standing. Winning the Finale and the Class championship was a total of 8 tires.
With these new rules, where the class champion is decided by one event, and the National series vanishes, then is the Hoosier contigency cut to half (4 tires only?)

You might get tires for winning the zone series.Rad_ Delgado_ wrote:So, the previous years, there was Hoosier contingency for the class champion (points leader), and there was contingency for the Finale Standing. Winning the Finale and the Class championship was a total of 8 tires.

New points system...I still don't get it.
http://solomatters.wordpress.com/2011/0 ... ts-update/
Therefore, by the end of the day on March 4th the ProSolo Series Rules posted at http://www.scca.com/contentpage.aspx?content=61" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; will be changed to reflect a class points system that I will summarize here:
• The Zone Championships (Atlantic, Mid-America, Pacific) will continue as previously described in the Rules, including the points schedule (20-16-13-etc.), scoring (best 2 events of the first 3), and which events are assigned to each Zone Series.
• The class points accumulated by a competitor in a Zone Championship (best 2 of 3) will be carried into the Finale event.
• Zone Class Champions will be awarded 5 bonus points if they participate in the Finale event.
• The class leader in each Heat of the Finale event will receive 10 bonus points.
• The class points schedule for finishing position at the Finale event will be double the points schedule for Zone Championship events (40-32-26-etc.).
• The Finale entry requirements (Section 20.10.A.2) will remain the same.

Re: 2011 Pro Solo rules
Don't worry, Seb. I've started a new venture, "ProSolo Rulz". I've hired the very best programmers from Google, The Facebook, Twitter, Groupon, Apple, Intel, and the Chinese government to develop an app for understanding and applying the new Rulz - we expect a beta release in Q4 2013, with a full rollout by Q3 2014.Sebastian Rios wrote:New points system...I still don't get it.

Re: 2011 Pro Solo rules
So, is it the best time for each heat, or the event leader at the conclusion of each heat? By the language I assume the latter, I'd prefer the former.

All I know is they made it so you need 2 previous events so you can win at the finale again. Have fun driving to Packwood, yikes.

It might be worth it to just go all the way to Lincoln. It's a 2 day drive no matter what.

Re: 2011 Pro Solo rules
From Pasadena
Wendover 623mi
Pikes Peak 1099mi
Lincoln 1500mi
Packwood 1105mi
Mineral Wells is 1373mi
Blightville is 1837mi
Not having an SFR Pro really messes the West Coast up... Now taking away Wendover it just ups the pain.
San Francisco? Sacramento? Reno? Something that can serve the Pacific as a reasonable second event?
I'd love Vegas, Phoenix, even Farmington, but those don't help the NW any. The Midwest and East Coast is so much better off than SoPac and NorPac.

Re: 2011 Pro Solo rules
Howard tells me that Wendover may well be back on the schedule in the future. Just not this year.
I'm going to be flying to Packwood for a fly and drive, but I suppose it's possible that Shaun may decide that he wants to go to Packwood in my car anyway. If you're going to drive that far, Packwood is an awfully nice destination.
