WTB: cheap ride

Post by Steve Collins »

My "ex" just blew the trans in her volvo and needs wheels that will get her around town to work.
Looking for something not-pretty, mostly reliable and dirt cheap.

Define dirt cheap, and reliable? I have a 1985 Volkswage Cabriolet. Asking $1,500, would take $1K. It's really more of a summer toy than daily driver unless it's local. New Battery, Steering Rack, New Paint, seat covers, but it has 200K plus miles.

Good, the "sealed 4 life" VW Auto Trannies are a total FAIL. We donated Karen's Cabriole, instead of having a used manual tranny installed, the "cheap" fix for folks that want to keep their Cabrios

Interesting. Perhaps a bit long in the tooth, but that's the right price-point. Does the roof mostly hold water? I'll check with my "client" and see if she demands to have an automatic.

Roof is reasonably dry, will allow spray through in some car washes. Windshield wipers are slow. Left out in the rain, the trunk lid will pick up some water, but the trunk stays dry. She has a working heater, but no air conditioner (wasn't equipped) the radio doesn't work. If you want to look at her my number is 310.863.5823 I am in Mission Viejo. (Comes with car cover).
