A/C Repair

Post by Daniel Y. »

Anyone here know of a decent shop for A/C repair? I'm pretty sure that it's just a simple o-ring replace/evac/recharge job on my Subie. The A/C was working fine a few months ago, ice cold. Now the blower just blows ambient temp air. The compressor isn't engaging, probably due to low refrigerant charge.

I was refereed to "Super Plus Automotive" in Glendora by my Acura mechanic a few years ago when I purchased the Miata, as it's A/C did not work. They checked the entire system over, found two cracked hoses and replaced them, put in 1 3/4 lbs of (R22) Freon. Parts, tax, and labor totaled $99.63.

I've taken the Miata back twice, once for a drip from a clogged drain line, another because the temp was not cooling as quickly as it had. Both issues were fixed, no charge!

Prior to loosing the Acura it to went, similar costs. Can't quote as the paperwork went to the High School Autoshop student who was going to repair the accident damage with his father.
