What fun is being the only one in a Class?

What might be a better class for me to join if nobody else is gonna run STS.
Of course I want a fair fit.
I dont have the skills yet, but a fair chance would be nice.

I would be surprised if no one else runs STS, but if it does shake out that way, just know that you should have beaten everyone in ST.
That should be sufficiently depressing...

If your running STS novice than your running against everyone else in novice. The downside is you don't all run at the same time, and since it's based on an index value you won't generally know until results are posted online how you did, but the best part is your up against like skill set and have a chance to trophy.

Might you have a link or something to where I can read more about how this Novice thing works?

Since u have lowering springs u can't run SK2, so u will find plenty of competition in CST. Did u check who's entered in that class? San Diego is where the STS cars roam ... and I did mention running STS Novice before. YOU run "by yourself" but you will be grouped in with the rest of the other Novices at the end of the day, with everyones times "adjusted" using the Index I was telling you about. Sometimes they post intermediate results during the day.

I don't know if they're running this weekend, but Lily and Mike are now regular STSers in their CRX. Also, Mike Heinitz comes up fairly regularly from SD, so you might be by yourself this weekend, but you won't be on a regular basis.

Sometimes it does count for special camera men or women. I.e. Like my slomo video taping.
It's the event chiefs call.

I'll be taping some slomo stuff on sat. Myself and will need a spotter too BTW.

I KNOW THAT ... just want to make sure others know that.

btw. at National events, the SCCA honchos have allowed me to shoot without a spotter, as long as I stayed 75 back from the course, doable at El Toro because of it's unique lay-out.

i've asked about that, and even by standing in the middle of the field, using the 600, i wasn't allowed out without a spotter.. }:)

someone had to have been driving a lawn mower to get to me.. and they would have had to drive through 30 yards of weed at that.. >_<

Cam, run novice, its a great experience, you have a chance at trophies and a championship jacket at the end of the year. Only your best 5 results count. More than anything else experience counts out here, the guys that have stayed around don't win becuase they have the best stuff, but because they are the best drivers (with maybe the exception of Bill). Yeah they have pretty good stuff, but I assure you that the top 3 guys can get in your car and beat you by 5 seconds all well talking to you. In novice however the field is much more balanced. If you ask the guys who ran novice last year, myself, Jordan, Stanley (who won the jacket) we all had a blast and shared, helped, drove each other to do better. I picked up a first and second place trophy and ran 4th overall for the year.

You have run a couple of events so you have come up the learning curve, but you still have time to post 5 novice events. Also some clubs have been putting reserving spots for novices, not bad if you can show your running novice?

Stanley, Virgil, Jordan, you want to chime in?

Sounds really cool to earn a jacket & trophy!
Stanley is an awesome guy ( I met him at the Pro Solo ) & I hope to hang around with him tomorrow & learn from him.
Stan you've gotta show me that Jacket & Trophy some time.

I've only done one AX event & that was 3 years ago.
Starting this far into the year, I wonder how many novice events have I missed?
& I as Mako never really know for sure when I'm working so, I'll stick with Novice & try my best.
But if I start off as STS Novice can I switch to lets say CST Novice or something later before the years end?
I ask because I would assume as I get more into this it would be more fun to be in a class with more competitors.

I'll be at practice at about 6am & looking forward to meeting you guys.
Please feel free to come up & introduce yourself. :D
I'll be the guy wearing black G-Force shoes & either a Baja 1000 shirt or a Anger Issues shirt. ( Anger Issues racing is the team I was off road racing with a bit ago. )

Different event masters and safety stewards may have a different take on a situation like that. Doesn't hurt to ask. We might be able to find a safe spot for you.

You have more than 5 events left, since that is all the counts toward year end your fine. No point switching later in the year, novice has plenty of competitors, if you were CST novice you would run with CST but your times wouldn't be listed with them and you wouldn't be competing against them.

I suppose running 12 events vs 5 events increases your chances of winning for the year because thay take your 5 best huh?
Meaning I've really got to make each of mine count. :o

But no pressure right.

I plan to come to tomorrow's autocross, but I won't be racing. I need to take pictures for this documentary assignment in my photography class. My question is: can I take photos of the cars on course?

Thanks,
