1990 Mazda Miata Autocross / Track Prepared in OC

Post by Jason Barton »

Have my 1990 Mazda Miata up for grabs. The tags are current and the title is clean. Adult owned. I've owned this car for a while and have built a solid autocross / track car out of it, while keeping it totally daily drivable. This car has quite a bit of tasteful upgrades suitable for autocross, track days or the local winding road, including: Racing Beat intake, Racing Beat header, Racing Beat exhaust, Magnaflow high flow cat, Racing Beat front sway bar and brace, Hard Dog roll bar w/ SFI padding, Enkei RPF1 16" wheels with Falken Azenis tires, Ground Control coilovers on Koni Yellow struts, Fat Cat Motorsports top hats, Hawk HPS brake pads, Speed bleeders, Cobra racing drivers seat, G Force 6 point harness, etc. With all this, I would consider it well tuned all around for better handling, acceleration and braking. The car is complete with full interior and the rear window in the top is in good shape. The car has a competition alignment and has been corner weighted. The car has 171K miles and has been maintained with all synthetic fluids including Mobile 1 engine oil, Redline transmission oil as well as ATE Super Blue high temp brake fluid.

The car will include a bunch of extra parts as well. These include: extra set of 15" racing wheels w/ Falken Azenis tires, extra generic coilovers, extra brake rotors and racing compound brake pads, stock exhaust manifold, stock cat, test pipe, stock exhaust, stock drivers seat, stock springs and struts, stock airbox, repair manual, stock rear sway bar w/ adjustable end links, stock harness bar, misc interior pieces, set up guide, tons of receipts, etc.

Now for the not so good: It looks like this car has recently picked up a front crank pulley wobble that these early 1st gen Miatas are prone to getting. This may be fixable with a new crank pulley bolt and woodruff key. The car is still drivable. I have had this car for a while but now but I must move on to something else. Now for the price. With the clean chassis and parts on the car, I am looking for $3700 or may part out various items if you make an offer I am willing to accept. As the previous owner of this car, I can tell you that I maintained this vehicle meticulously, as did the owner before me, who is a race mechanic and who set this car up according to the specific specs set fourth by a certain STS national champion's magazine articles. Also, on the plus side, it's a Miata, and you can buy an ENTIRE low mileage JDM motor for like $600. The seller is a solid guy, no BS. Bid with confidence on this one. Oh, and it's a '91 by the way.

Yes, nice car. I drove it briefly on a breakfast run to Big Bear a coupe of owners ago. Those Enkeis have won an autocross or two in CST...they used to be on my MR2 Spyder! (See avatar pic)
