Divisional Volunteers Needed to Help Sweep Course

Post by Arthur Grant »

Team, looking for two people late Friday afternoon and early Saturday to help sweep the course. We have two gas blowers, your help is appreciated.

Please PM me.

As I explained to our Prez, Mike S., our regional and now divisional races are better run than the freakin' Spring Nationals in Lincoln last month - the courses were basically never swept for either the Pro or the Tour - the only "sweeping" happened when it rained, and once when I swept one corner myself.

Now, in defense of the Lincoln races, the NE region has like 5 core workers, where we have like 25.

But nonetheless, great going CSCC!

Thanks!

Sounds like a lot of sweeping (or am I mistaken?)!

Have you considered hiring a street sweeper .... one of those machines that sweep streets that is?

Actually not that much sweeping. Usually takes about 45 minutes and consists of pushing the blower back and forth to move the dirt, rocks and rubber. Usually only necessary in corners. The hardest work is probably Friday as we move the majority of the dirt, again I expect no more than 45 min. Essentially as hard as pushing a grocery cart. The new blower is particularly easy. The other day that can be some work is Sunday because the marbels laid down the prior day may now be on the racing line for the reversed course.

One of the interesting sides of blowing the course clean (and your not really doing the whole course). is that you look much more critically at the line. You tend to make sure you clear where you think your going to turn in. The people in the first run group love you, if you do it right.

BTW, found the ear protection while at Lone Pine. It'll be on the blower.

Hi Arthur,

I'll run the second one. Had plenty of practice at the Pro.
