Nationals

Post by Steve Towers »

Not sure if this is the right place on the forum for this, but here goes. I've decided to go to Lincoln this year for the whole deal, Pro and Tour. I'm planning on getting a spot on the transporter, but beyond that I'm clueless about hotels, flights into (which city), ground transport, possibly getting someone to transport tires, etc., etc. Please chime in. No such thing as too much info.

Hi Steve,

The first transporter is already booked with past alumni. There have been some others asking about it, so we may be able to do a second truck. I'll need those interested to help recruit more cars to help bring your per car price down. I'll start a thread if you are interested. You would need about 6-8 more cars to make economical.

Regards,
Rick

Rick,
Can you share what the cost is per car for the first transport, so those (especially those who have not done it before) considering have a basis to make a decision on.
Steve,
All of the below is based upon stay's in Lincoln for work.

You can fly directly into Lincoln. I've flown in/out for work several times. It's a nice, small, airport. Think Burbank, but 40 years newer (terminal), or Ontario, but only one of it's terminals.

Many of the hotels have airport shuttles (ask). All the major Hotel players are in town. It's a BIG college town, with many Alumi/Parents who travel in for the Football games. According to the UNL Huskers website, Lincoln is the third largest city in the Big Ten (s/b the big 12???) conference. 1st day of school is Aug 22nd, so hopefully parents dropping kids off will have cleared out of the hotels for us, and space will not be an issue.

it's usually a little over a grand per car to transport. Last years thread answers a lot of the questions, and has links to other good threads: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4437" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks Aaron, that info is correct. Actual cost will be set later, to be determined by the price of fuel. Past price has been $1,000 -$1,250. Cars will be there for the Pro and Championship. Pick-up and drop-off near El Toro.

Rick,

Thanks for the info. Obviously no idea the transporter filled so quickly. I'm in if a second one becomes viable. If not, not sure how I'll manage getting there.

Two years ago, I missed the SCCA hotel and pricelined the Holiday Inn downtown and had Eric/Mari take my car. Last year, after being stabbed in the back by our esteemed regional chairman, I put my car on the transporter and ponied up for the Embassy Suites where the SCCA deal is. This year, I'm trailering on my own (will likely have room for a few tires and such if anyone wants to contribute to the diesel fund) and based on the great experience I had during Spring Nats, I Pricelined "Area 1" in Lincoln and got the Holiday Inn Express about three miles from the site. It took a $76 bid on June 9th. No idea what it is now. It is a great property, free breakfast and the best wifi I've ever seen at a hotel, which was also free.

+1. We stayed there last year and I really liked it.

There's still a slim chance for a second transporter (my only hope) but I couldn't find an event schedule on the SCCA website. Assuming I'll do the Pro and the Tour, when do things start and end? My heads buzzing with flight booking, hotel, car rental, etc.

The whole weeks schedule: http://www.scca.com/documents/Solo_Form ... ITIES4.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Run Groups for Nationals: http://www.scca.com/documents/Solo_Even ... 20days.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Run Groups for the Pro Finale won't be known until entrants are determined. Two more events exist for qualifying before that can happen/open.

Have you competed in two (or more) Pro's. Those that have have first entry priority. Then it opens to others by points earned in class, as well as other priority rule sets which I can't find at the moment.
