Thank you to the Novice school volunteers and instructors

Post by Stephen Yeoh »

Before I go crash for the night, I wanted to take a moment to thank everybody that came forward to help make this weekends school a success (IMO). This school would not have been possible without all of you chipping in to help out to make sure things ran smoothly, particularly after the events that took place the last few days before the school.

From what I can tell, the students learned quite a bit and they did get enough seat time. Thank you again to all of you for making this school very memorable and useful for the students.

I'd also like to take a few moments to give special thanks to my co-chair for this event, Jason Flores, who worked tirelessly to ensure everything went smoothly. I can't imagine one person chairing a school. Ouch!

Indeed, thank you all for making it happen.

As a student, and an autoXer with some driving experience, I still managed to learn quite a bit. There was plenty of seat time, for sure, and I didn't even make it on Sunday (unfortunately, TWO corded tires and broken torque wrench).

A special thanks to Bob Jardine, not just for the great instruction, but for also helping and giving tips to some other students that weren't his! Thank you, Mr. Jardine.

I'm going to recommend this class. Easily well worth the money spent. A bargain, even. ;)

And a HUGE thank you to you, Stephen, and Jason for tackling this beast!

We had to adapt to a number of late changes, but I think everything worked out *spectacularly* well.

A resounding +2! I had a great time instructing (it was cool just to know that I could teach at all), and my students had a great time as well. Max learned a lot as well (big thanks to Mike S., James and Stacey!).

He (and his instructors) would have had a better time if you would have let him drive the Mini :gpower:

I don't want to introduce the complication of driving a manual until he's got a good handle on normal driving. This weekend made me start to think he's about there. Besides, I thought trying to get that poopbox around the course quickly was a pretty fun challenge, myself. Talk about a speed maintenance car. Or actually it's better described as a momentum car, since to maintain speed, you first have to achieve it.

I don't think I can say enough about just what a great event this was. I liked the individual elements and how they were merged into a very fun course. I definitely had plenty of seat time. The quality instruction was quite evident in the times that were posted by end of day Sunday by the students. Overall, the event felt very well planned, and seemed to run very proficiently.

Max H. did an excellent job at helping me improve.

Thanks to everyone for such a educational and memorable experience!

I've gotta thank the organizers for putting on this event and making sure it ran smoothly, even with the speed bumps. The instructors usually get thanked at the end of the day by their students, but the people behind the scenes don't always see it. So thanks to Steve, Jason, Mike, Rick and anybody else that I've missed for all your selfless efforts. Also, thanks to Renee for saying 'send him' approximately 1440 times. :) I had lots of fun watching my students improve.
