Looks like fun!
But even with discount, it's out of my price range.

You're missing the point. It's supposed to be a gift FOR you.Craig Naylor wrote:Looks like fun!

Re: Christmas Gift Idea???
I went to this w/ a friend... it's fun for what it is.
One thing to keep in mind: you'll need to add another $85-90 for insurance, which only limits your liability to $2500. You can do it w/o it, but yea...
They take you out in groups of up to 4 drivers. 20 laps.
Good thing: it's based on 20 laps of the slowest driver. So my friend & I got like 25-26 laps - we weren't extraordinarily fast, just the majority of people going have no real performance driving experience.
Getting in & out is hard; no doors, window only.
You are allowed to bring your own helmet (I didn't know this) and gloves, but they do provide headsocks.
You can't bring your own GoPro, they want to charge you like $100+ to use theirs (I guess at least they burn it onto a DVD for you).
Worth trying once; beyond that, I'd rather do autox or an hpde. The scariest part was "dammit, I don't have $2500 if I wreck this
." If I had $2500 to spare, it would have been much more fun, hee hee.
We did this when it was like 100+ out a little over a month ago; still had fun.

Her's another Christmas gift idea for those who like racing games:
http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.as ... opnav=&s=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
For those who are not Costco members, no fret. Non members can purchase from the online store.

Re: Christmas Gift Idea???
I'd recommend Fanatec over Thrustmaster. I have the Fanatec GT3 wheel and love it (to say I use it "a lot" is putting it mildly). I also have their ClubSport pedals, which are widely regarded as the best there are (for any reasonable amount of money).Craig Naylor wrote:Her's another Christmas gift idea for those who like racing games:

You can get the wheel and pedals for $329: http://www.fanatec.de/webshop/new_usa/p ... ucts_id=81" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (xbox support is an extra $50 or so)
And if you want the H pattern shifter, an extra $30 or $60.
