It looks like we're gonna have some rainy fun this weekend at El Toro. I guess I'll mount my rain tires. Oh, that's right. My Star Specs ARE rain tires...kind of.

Speaking of rain this will be my first event in the wet. Anything I should purchase for working in the wet? Is an umbrella and a change of clothes good enough? thanks for any advice.

You're better off with an inexpensive rain suit with a hood for working course. While we do allow umbrellas on course you are supposed to put it down to run to pick up cones.Daniel Plante wrote:Speaking of rain this will be my first event in the wet. El Toro is pretty grippy in the wet. It's MilSpec runways, albeit old ones

Re: March 17 & 18 Event Registration Open
After experiencing soaked shoes/socks during the January event, I planned on getting some rain boots for next time when it rains.
Of course I've put it off until the last possible minute thinking it would not rain this weekend.
But I did find and order this nice low cut rain boot yesterday. Not sure if it will arrive by tomorrow or not though. If not, procrastination will once again teach me a lesson, lol.
I think this will work well in keeping feet dry, yet seems low enough to allow running back and forth from fallen cones.
This is the best sales price I've found on this model. They seem to stock in various Nordstrom locations too.
If I was smart and not so lazy
, I would have gone to the store to try on and pick up instead of mail order...

rain boots cheap at places like Home Depot, OSH, etc. I like to wear them with a thick pair of, ideally, wool/ski socks.

Accuweather is only forecasting .81" of rain, which over the course of a day, will not be bad. Especially with the good drainage we have on that site. Rain suit, change of shoes/socks, umbrella and everything will fun. And good practice in the wet that we don't often see.

Registered Karen and I ... again ... but we still don't show up on the Attendee list. Same thing happened at the last event ?
Re: March 17 & 18 Event Registration Open
EVent is happening tomorrow. Bring an umbrella and rain coat, rain pants and waterprrof shoes if you have them. Dry socks are always a plus.
If you have an umbrella out on course, remember to close it and drop it before chasing to replace a cone. Running with the umbrella is not a good idea and leaving it open while you run might have it blowing across the course.
It should be fun in the rain and remember that this is an old runway and drainage is very good. you can't hav C-130s hydroplaning on a landing or take off
See you all in the morning
