Our 8yr old kid was gutted. He really liked it and asked me if I would give it to him for his 16th birthday. I told him yes, if I still owned it. That dream didn't even last four days!

We bought a light weight top from Sevens Only at Button Willow ... $400. But it's JUST A LIGHT WEIGHT FIBERGLASS Shell, with no nothing except for some mounting hardware which is unkind to a stock Miata. We put in a Polycarbonate rear window.
