My company was doing some work for that project. The idea seems very cool, but I don't really see how they can pull it off in Thermal in essentially a swamp that will be 120 for 7 months of the year.

Exactly ... don't get that either. Silver Springs near Vegas must have the same problem, but apparently works? It can be over 100 at midnight there! Same problem with the otherwise lovely Chuckwalla track relatively close to Palm Springs.
