Need a favor, in-car cam related
While setting up the camera for the event this morning, I discovered that the external mic connector broke off from the camera. I have a track day coming up on 10/1, and I don't think I can either get it fixed nor get a new one. Therefore, I'm wondering if I can borrow a camera from one of you, and I'll return it either at the next event or before that. The one I have is a Drift Innovation camera, and I prefer to use this. But a GoPro will work too. If anyone would like to lend me a Drift cam or a GoPro, please PM me. Thanks very much.

I don't have an external mic, but I've got two Hero2s you can borrow. Some accessories too (one remote wifi, once LCD). You'd just have to find your way to Huntington Beach to get them/drop off.

Thanks, Jayson. I'll text you some time this week. I have an external mic and extension cable. Does the Hero2 have 2.5mm mono-jack for the external mic port?

You'll have to consult the manual or chime an expert, but there is an external mic jack, I think it's a 3.5mm stereo connection (which mono mic will work in).Vincent Wong wrote:Thanks, Jayson. If you're still up in the Baldwin Hills area, I have a chore to run that way, can probably drop off this week.

Problem with the jacks on the GoPro is they are not accessible when it's in it's case. I think they are only for connecting for playback on a TV, at least that's how I've used mine (GoPro HD, not HD2).Jayson Woodruff wrote:You'll have to consult the manual or chime an expert, but there is an external mic jack, I think it's a 3.5mm stereo connection (which mono mic will work in).Vincent Wong wrote:Thanks, Jayson. Drill bit mod was applied to one of my cases.

GoPro makes a skeleton housing to access all of their ports ... but yah, better to just drill out to the port that you need, 3.5 mm audio port. The skeleton housing is TOO open, so one ends up having to tape over the openings one doesn't need.
