2008 F1 Podium Picker Challenge: European Grand Prix: Rd 12
Wakeup people....(no pun intended as the NOTLD just finished) but the F1 siesta break (3 weeks is over). And now it's......
the newest venue (2nd of 3) street circuits!!. But make no mistake....this ain't MONACO. Hungary is more like Monaco but with out the fancy yachts and homes and money. Valencia, Spain street circuit is more MONZA, Italy, than Monaco. HIGH-SPEED.
Qualifying starts on Sat. 5am PST. Get those picks in.

Tomorrow's, Practice 3, isn't on. Only No. 2. It's dicey drawing conclusions from practice times.Kurt Rahn wrote:Wish I could've watched practice, but I'm not home tomorrow morning.

Larry you've read my mind!! I've only watched 1/3 of practice but this is my gut feeling. Oh and I'm surprised no one corrected me. This new race, street circuit is NOT at night. That will be in Singapore later this year. After hearing the commentary the track is more like Circuit Gilles Villenueve in Montreal, Quebec - Canada.Larry Andrews wrote:Hamilton

Re: 2008 F1 Podium Picker Challenge: European Grand Prix: Rd 12
I'm betting on rain. If it does rain, Massa will stuff the car somewhere and Heikki will just plain drive slow. Unibrow has way too much traffic to give the hometown crowd a surprise but he can definitely perform in the absence of grip.
What really galls me is that Toro Rosso finally gets their cars halfway dialed only after they dump Scotty. At least he's doing really well in ARCA now.
Can't decide if it's better to split a couple of trees worth of chestnut logs in the morning before it heats up or watch the race.

Wood still ain't split but the race was kind of fun to watch.
It's really nice to see a tall guy doing well in open-wheel. If ya call a six-footer tall...

4 observations:
1. what's up with grid boy
? is that a new trend ?
2. I did not see a single pass in the whole race on TV, this is getting ridiculous, thought this track has a few passing opportunities according to commentators.
3. what's up with no penalty for Massa for unsafe release from pit ? is it because the car is red ? exact same penalty as Hamilton's 2 minutes late to driver's meeting.
4. Kimi made a dangerous rookie mistake. took off when he wasn't released.

Re: 2008 F1 Podium Picker Challenge: European Grand Prix: Rd 12
Yeah, mostly. There was that one pass at the start. And a couple close calls at pit exit. But mostly no surprises...except for maybe Vettel.
Oh, and isn't this something like Kimi's sixth season? Rookie move by an old fart.
Then again, didn't Lewis punt him something nasty on pit exit a couple months back? Lewis has been racing for almost 20 years.
