Two comments after this blog entry caught my attention:
"That doesn't look so much like an autocross course but rather just the main parking lot with a handful of slaloms thrown in."
"I was expecting a more "legitimate" autoX track with tight turns than just slaloms =D as it is, the ST might have a chance here to win."
There you have it. Comments on Mark's course from the peanut gallery.

Leonard, you left out the rest of that comment:Leonard Cachola wrote:"That doesn't look so much like an autocross course but rather just the main parking lot with a handful of slaloms thrown in."
"Also, at 38 sec mark you should have just powered into the spin, finish the 360, and proceed upon your way picking up the style points."
I think we should view this guy as the ultimate judge of autocross courses

Edit: Nice DNF

If you've ever had the joy of driving an autox course from some of the competing organization's you'd know what they were talking about. Nothing is more fun than a 30 ft radius u turn at 10-15 mph's all in a course that lasts 25-35 seconds that's a "Real" Autox course.

"Wow, it's been awhile since I got bored with auto-x, but that doesn't look like any SCCA auto-x I ever went to. Wide open, clearly sighted, almost no chance of getting lost in the cones and a lot of time to relax. You know I did a day at a road course once in the middle of Alabama that had tighter sections than that auto-x."
No tight corners? REALLY? The most common complaint I got was about the pin turn at the top of the hill.... At least by people who were approaching it at a decent speed.
LOL! Seems I have a lot to learn about designing courses. 1st gear, FTW!

Mark,
Having the opportunity to take the top of the hill in both rear wheel and front wheel drive( Thank you Pat ) I would have to say Mark, you nailed it.
Having stiff springs will make you faster, over 5 seconds a lap in my case.
I never got the box in the middle right. But I would be willing to try it again. Even with all the visual noise.
Thank you and "we are" really lucky.

Speaking of tight corners, that right hander right before the finish was BRUTAL if you didn't set up correctly. Which I didn't on my first 3 runs and coned there every time... including one spectacular fail where I drove straight into the last wall cone, hitting it directly in the center of my front bumper.Mark DeShon wrote: No tight corners? Great course! Had a blast.

You know, I was a little bummed that I didn't get to go (Don't get me wrong, I had a GREAT time going to the Grand Canyon in a rented RV with my wife and our dog), but now I'm kinda glad I didn't go; I'm sure as h*ll glad I didn't; I wouldn't want to demean myself running around with you losers high schoolers!
I just saw that it looks like he drives a GTR; well then, sure, we are all losers compared to him and his mighty vehicle!

You mean the car that requires no actual driving skills because it makes all the crucial decisions by itself? But hey, it's really expensive, so he's a baller, right?Bill Schenker wrote:I just saw that it looks like he drives a GTR; well then, sure, we are all losers compared to him and his mighty vehicle!

Mark, I thought you course was great. I'm not one to measure from, but it kicked my butt. Notice how he completely let go of the steering wheel in his slide/spin and lets it turn freely, and then again in each of the slaloms immediately following, he continues to do it a half dozen times throughout the remainder of the course.
