VW Mark2 diff wanted
Anybody have a non-open style diff for an 020 trans, aka 84-92 golf, laying around they want to get rid of?

Well you can't have mine, but this is what I run in my modified class Rabbit rallyx car. No complaints.

Bill - that was one of the units I was considering. Good to know it seems to work. Any direct or indirect experience with http://www.bildon.com/catalog/DetailsLi ... &SubNav=55" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or something similar?

KJ-Do you ever lift the inside rear wheel? AKA Torsen death bicycle?
Edit add: From reading my DMOD-EMOD email today, it looks like the Wavelock LS overcomes the lifted tire issue somehow. My bad.

Yeah, that was an issue with the Torsen. I'm not positive how effective the Waveloc is, but it seems to get good reviews.Steve Ekstrand wrote:KJ-Do you ever lift the inside rear wheel? AKA Torsen death bicycle?

Re: VW Mark2 diff wanted
the wavetrac was not much different from a regular quaife in the evo after about 10 runs. they might work ok for cars that don't do ~1g forward. the little frictions washers don't have enough friction surface area to not overheat and wear out.KJ Christopher wrote:Yeah, that was an issue with the Torsen. The guys at Saleen loved the Wavetrac diff and even had them custom made for the 351R and S7, but I don't know what the acceleration curves on those cars look like.

Re: VW Mark2 diff wanted
i suspect they would like them less if they tried to autox with them. autox cars tend to ask a lot from their diffs, especially as the power:weight goes up.Bobby Beyer wrote:The guys at Saleen loved the Wavetrac diff and even had them custom made for the 351R and S7, but I don't know what the acceleration curves on those cars look like.

Re: VW Mark2 diff wanted
Back when I bought mine, there were plans to offer various friction surfaces for tuning purposes. Don't know if that happened or not.
