Almost no clearance between hook and ground ... a bump probably drove the hook into the oil pan?

Is this something that the towing company is now responsible for?

When the 2nd truck got there with more kitty litter ... they also reversed the hook and moved it forward. We still couldn't see what damage was done. Even if the hook had been reversed, it still could have cracked the oil pan?

Yes, towing company is responsible.

Took us fours hours from discovering the electrical problem to getting home.

Yeah, turning the hook over would not have helped. They would have needed to lengthen the chains to get the hook under the subframe, or turned the hook sideways.

Now you have an electrical problem and a cracked oil pan... I hope the fixing goes quickly!

We got home ok... the back of our house only has ONE of 4 vehicles --- Mako's van. The rear carport looks lonely and the garage is empty too
...and I always figured I'd have at least one car for backup.

hmmmm.... Maybe it is time to get a 4th car.

We'll get the report tomorrow after they get the car off of the flatbed ... oil plug area looks OK ... looks like the area behind the drain has been bashed in.

Btw in the past I had an issue w the towing company (cracked my front spoiler) and they paid for it... Usually they are really good in these kind of claims....

Yah ... definitely ... I DID say to Karen, let's take the Toyota since I like to "save" the Vette, but she likes to drive the Z06 ... and it was probably better that the electrical problem cropped up then rather then when she was trying to come home from work. Subaru is now providing her with a free rental car.

Yes, the Vette was tied down by chains to the approved Vette tie-down points, PLUS wide straps through the wheels. The straps would normally seem to be enough ... for a fairly flat ride. The wench line and chain hold the car when the flat bed is tilted back and down for loading/unloading.

I found an answer for that that helped when my car was towed. I have a tow hook installed on the front, and a trailer hitch with hooks on the back. When I had to be towed the night before the divisionals, I just had the rig pull her up by her tow hook, worked great. I have it because NASA requires it for HPDE, but it's a real nice to have for every day stuff, or if I have to be towed off the grid or track at one our events.

Sorry for the Vette troubles guys. I also delete the H codes when I'm looking at codes & the car is running well. Codes will come back when warranted.

FWIW mine has been very trouble free, knock wood.

Keep us posted what it turns out, Is battery fresh & posts tight? Don't over tighten.

You would not believe how sensitive these cars are to correct voltage on so many systems.

Have you found out what caused the original problem that got you towed?

Sounds like an absolute nightmare. So sorry it happened. If it makes you feel any better, one of our guys took his Vet to be aligned and the manager took it out for a test drive and wrapped it around a tree.

So far they think there is an issue with signal getting to the fuel pump. Car would start right up but won't take throttle. Monday they hope to know for sure. Steve L is hoping the Miata
Flywheel/clutch install will be finished on Monday. No word when the Suby engine rebuild will b finished!!

Have you considered getting a couple of horses? Reliable, but slow transportation.
