There used to be something like that in the stock rules. Something like OE's of less than 14" could upgrade to 14" of the same width. Real benifit considering the tires availible. That allowance disapeared about 5 years ago though, don't know why. Makes a lot of old econo cars completely unfeesable.

Jason I. will surely shred me.... But my guess is they removed the rule as a way of getting rid of old cars.

I would not go that far. But I would say for every whiner out there, there is someone to replace them. For all the pissing and moaning about how bad HPT is, and people that said they would never go back, we still had 1000+ people show up to run in the sandbox. Lots of big talk out there. Just like a number of road racers I know that tried the other group this year, because they were so PO at SCCA. Only took them one trip to the other guys big event to come back to SCCA for 2009. You know the grass is always greener over there.

While the BoD may "run the club", members elect them and members put on the events... If you are not happy with things you should first think about how you can contribute to make it better, anything less and it is just more noise (a contribution can be as simple as a letter to the appropriate group within the club). A perfect example of the noise is the post VS letter ratio on items for member comment. For every ten post I see about a subject, I may see one letter - and I have never seen letters top 30 on a single item (pretty scary when you consider the number of members who don't seem to care).

btw you know there is a BoD seat open in SOPAC this year.... Any Solo guys going to step up?

Does anybody know who is currently running to fill Porterfield's spot? And I guess there are term limits on that position? I think I read somewhere Andy couldn't run again. Is there still time to run?

There's this 2 page spread in the SoPac newspaper thing they sent out a week or so ago, plus dude bought an ad right there too. They have threads over on Papa cal club's forum about it. Both of the dude's running tertiarily mention Rally and Solo at the end of a paragraph somewhere in their position statements. But you do get a bit of the, "we are all here to support road racing" feel from both. But then I'm just tertiarily following the election so I guess I get what I pay for. ;)

That is only because year after year we let it be. If the Solo group had a candidate I think it would be easy to take the seat in this Division. I would bet less than 30% of the members in the SOPAC division even vote - and those are probably all club racers. In sopac you primarily have cal club and AZ putting on road races. What do you think the primary interest is in the other regions - San Diego, Vegas, Tucson, Flagstaff, Hawaii, Guam, I bet there are a lot of untapped votes out there.

And someone tell me again WHY we are part of CalClub? Though Jason's idea would go a long way to stop our continued rape by Papa CalClub.

I would immediately propose that club racers be asked to work course for solo competitions on a volunteer basis.

Merely a proposal just as fair as one put forward three years ago for Time Trial participants to work the concurrent Club Racing event in exchange for running in completely inadequate lot within the AAA Speedway infield. Objections to that lead the proponent to throw an online hissy fit and drive several of us away from the message group. Result? No Cal Club run HPDE/Time Trial/whatever you call it events, instead an alliance with a commercial 3rd party.
