I wouldn't really use the phrase "free speech".... Private action and privilege and all that....
But yeah...
You'll have to deal with Obama sucks just like I have to deal with Candied Bacon and drooling Pedo-Bear.

Um... Ok...
I would find it useful to have a feature on the forum that works just like "active_topics" named search but omits the "political paddock". Hmmm.... }:) that sounds familiar....

Believe me, I've thought of it. And if it can be an option that a member sets in his profile I'm all for it.

...isn't that what we had before. if all we had to do was make the off topic forum an opt in as well why wasn't that considered?
Or at the very least, make the default visible and let us opt out. giving us no choice other then to ignore it is complete bullshit.

What we had was that ONLY thread in the PP did not show up as "new posts" and was an "opt-in" choice. Now it's back to the way it was, with moderator status. I suggest having an option (if the forum software allows it) to "opt-out" of having OT posts show up in the "new posts". But again that's up to the powers that be. For now it's back to the way it was.

I'd say just don't use the active topics feature guys. I've already implemented all the easy ways of getting around seeing that stuff, people threw fits. It's back the way it was.. just ignore it. I can always just take away the active topics button.. or we could just lose ALL the off topic stuff. I'm tired of this thread for the same reason I don't want to read the PP crap, I have enough politics and argument in my life already.

But bookmarking Active Topics is the easiest way to keep up (didn't you tell me that!

I've never used the Active Topics feature. I just go to the main boards page and click on whichever topic is red. Works pretty well for me, and I can ignore whatever I don't want to read.

Easy Steve, just don't read 'em. I know it's not the same as eliminating them altogether but it's really quite simple to ignore them.
The difference is we now have moderators on that forum. Personal insults and profanity are not allowed.

it's kinda like when you see a thread named "F1: Australian GP Results", you know you shouldn't click on it if you don't want to see the results.

Because you don't have to put "SPOILER" in the thread title

Some of the PP threads seem to purposely have misleading Subject Lines ... that "beg" to be checked out.
Of course one doesn't HAVE to go beyond that first message ...

Before we discuss who's more or less tolerant, we had better move this to PP.
