Just so there is no confusion for the tour.
There are 2 seperate Kumho awards guidelines - 1 for the pro and 1 for the tour.
You need to sign up ahead of time - not during or after the event.
Stickers are required - not sure yet if they will be available at tech
Also the awards are for credit towards Kumho tires - not cash

Weather a week out? Yesterday morning it was to rain all day. Yesterday afternoon it was to rain all night and into today. Today it's supposed to rain all day. It's nearly noon, haven't seen a drop yet.

It has rained every year I've gone to SD...which is three...and bad luck comes in threes...so, therefore, it will not rain this year.
At least I hope not, I'm either on 400 tread wear M+S tires or A6's...nothing in between.
And, no, Jason, I don't want to borrow your 2001 vintage Hoosier wets again

Another reason I like street tire classes. No having to drag around rains. :heyes:

Well, the toyo's, especially in SD, can be run full tread.... But nationally competitive ST drivers are generally competing on 3/32nds or less tread in the dry. Still need rain tires.

Hey Jonathan! Sounds like you would be money ahead if you went SS!

We always had a full tread set for the rain, used them in 08 at the Pro Finale a BUNCH.

At least you can use them for something else or shave them. R-compound wets have only one purpose. Spend over a grand and you may never use them. :unimpressed: Can't keep them too long either.
Just the cost of doing business I guess

I'd actually love to see Sports Car or GRM or somebody do a comparison of R-comp wets to full-tread top-end ST tires in the wet. I bet the ST tires would be pretty close in performance.

Toby got 16000 miles out of our old set of Hoosier Wets on his work truck.

What happens if there are less than 5 entries signed up for a class? When does that become official?

At a Tour 5 are needed for contingency. Classes of one still get a trophy.

Hoosier pays for 1st as soon as there are 3 in class, but you need 5 to also have them award for 2nd. It used to be that, if there were only 3 in class, that 1st was only one tire, but I don't think that is the case in 2010...
btw, weather report looks very good, now...which makes sense, because I scored a set of Hoosier Wets from a friend today

That has not been the case in years. Three cars gets contingency (for 1st place).

Question: Who's the favorite for STR?
All I can say is I hope I'm not running in the same group, I really want to watch that battle.
BS and CS might be kind of good, too, though!
McWho, look out for the young guys coming down from SFR in the black S2K ;)
