284 entries as of Easter morning and not a single SM entrant. Yet there are 5 SMF cars, a class I'm always told is quite dead on arrival.
STR looks like a smash hit. Not only 21 entrants, but just look at the quality of field its drawing. That class is a keeper for sure.

I'd like to take this opportunity to point out that there are 20 people registered for SK classes.

Edit: 19, not 20. One of those actually was an AM car.

Bob Endicott has won two local events ... Jeff Cawthorne, Steve Lepper, Max Hayter and Shaun Bailey have been doing well in STR also.

ST is ALWASY close and exciting ... as is STL.

I have to work on Friday and Sunday but Karen and I are hoping to come down on Saturday to check out the action and shoot some shots. STILLS or Slow Mo Video ? I don't think I want to do video ... the posting/hosting situation is not mature enough to make it practical ...

Well the real reason is that we changed the name of SS to something else.

All I can say is I hope I'm not running in the same group, I really want to watch that battle. :)

BS and CS might be kind of good, too, though!

McWho, look out for the young guys coming down from SFR in the black S2K ;)

Hey Mike,

The SD Tour is always exciting for me, because I don't get the seat time that everybody else does. Maybe I should have been driving instead of crashin' in that MTB race last month  Then again, driving the Civic wouldn't help much anyway ;)

Oh come on, Scott...you've only been driving Tom's car for what, twenty, thirty years...how much "seat time" do you need, anyway?

Just playin' with ya, dude.

Seriously, I'm glad it was just your helmet that cracked in that MTB crash and not your noggin!! :)

Who said 'dead'?

None in Dixie, none in Texas .... but, but, we have FIVE whole entries in San Diego! And from all over the country!

Sounds like a keeper to me!

I'm assuming IDX1/2 == SK1/2, is that correct?

That's how it was last year at the Pro.

Good enough for me, though it's weird that they don't use the SK names, even though that's what they used on the event information page.

Edit: Wait, does that mean we need "IDX" letters for our cars?

No. You registered as SK1 or SK2, so you use SK1 or SK2 for your car.

Doubt they want to enter every local region's index classes into their computer system, probably just place holders.

Jeff

You are putting way to much thought into this.

Yes SK1/SK2 = IDX1/IDX2

The national software is really not set up for changes like regional local classes (each region has different ones or names).

Just use your SK class letters like you do for a local event and remember to use the numbers that you signed up with the tour and not your local numbers.

Come down for the test n tune and enjoy the weekend.

Don't know why you'd say that... I've never been to a national event before and I want to make sure I'm prepared, what's wrong with that?

Being prepared is good, just make sure to not get yourself too caught up in the "national event" hype. Ask Marshall what happens if you wind yourself up too much at your first national event. ;)

Take a couple of deep breaths and just drive.

Thanks, Randy!

STR runs first group in the morning, but works late afternoon? Or, is the Tour like the Pro where you run twice a day?

Not like a local event where you only have to stay 1/2 day if you want. It's assumed for this type of event you're there all day. And it's normal to have a large amount of time between running and working so there is no waiting for workers to show or people to get in grid.

Yet, we can do it just fine at a Pro and run two heats a day?

On the plus side, it does give us plenty of time to go our for lunch.

The Pro has an entry cap of 230 people. The tour has a cap of 325.

Anticipate staying all day, any day, of any national level event.

Plus if you look at the math-

3 runs * 325 entrants (total of 975 runs)
vs
4 runs * 230 entrants (total of 920 runs)

At the end of the day, you can only get in so many runs. And before someone jumps in to "correct" me that you get 8 runs in Pro... no. You do, but the event takes 4 runs per entrant on Saturday. You just happen to take 4 of your other runs while a competitor runs.

The lunch wagon is there all day Sat/Sun.

Costco, McDonalds, and other restaurants are in the shopping center next door.

Plus there is a course walk between heats 2 & 3.
