'09 Rulebooks

Post by Mike Simanyi »

'09 Rulebooks are available for pre-booking through the SCCA website at the link. $20 + shipping, to be sent in January.

Any chance we could buy a bunch (say 50 or 100) to bulk ship & save each of us paying individual shipping? I know they have them at the tour, but it would be nice to get it b4 that.

Just a thought. We are in a recession, so every penny counts.

When we've done it in the past its been pretty ugly.
Failed to get in time for SDTour.
Ended up with a whole huge box unsold.

Steve is correct. In fact, Papa Cal Club only gave us the invoice to pay a couple months ago for the '07 rulebooks we bought at the beginning of the year.

I don't think we need to repeat that mistake.

Since I'm the DSS, I can get the same discount as Papa CalClub. 5 books minimum. I can check with SCCA to see when they would be shipping them.

Again, it's the administrative hassle and accounting that are problematic. I'll be sure to include this on the Agenda for the meeting.

Well if you dudes figure out a way to get some in bulk (b4 the tour) I would buy one. But don't make a big deal out of it. I understand there is some "hassle" involved in doing it. I had thought it would not be that complicated.

Easiest thing to do is purchase one at the SD Tour or ET Pro - you don't have to pay shipping, since the SCCA have them there.

Bob, we compete in stock class where there's may be three rules. What do you need a book for?

Do the printed rulebooks have different/more info than the PDF doc they post on their Web site?

The ONLY real reason for needing a printed rule book is to run National events are get annual tech.

Not that I know of. You're supposed to have a rule book in your possession for national type events Kurt, I suppose I case there is a rules dispute at the event. I've owned three rule books looked at the rules once.

It's nice to have the printed and bound rulebook in your glove box for referance.

If I remember I can take orders before I go to the SCCA convention in Feb. That's probably where I'll get mine.

Got it. I've actually used the PDF I downloaded quite a bit, but I guess I don't need the printed version until I go to nats.

You need one when you register for any national event.. theoretically... though I didn't bring mine to any of the fly away events this year.

Is having online (iphone or laptop) access to the SCCA .pdf version acceptable at the National events, and what about if I print that version out? :?:
Stock class means there are very few allowed modifications.

At one time they did. I haven't seen anyone try or get away with it in the last couple years. I think it's just way easier to borrow one than to try and explain you iPhone to a Topkean.

Probably would go about as well as when I explained to my parents how the DVD player remote control works! Haha
