1991 Toyota MR2 Turbo -- SM2 Autox Car -- $23,000 obo

Image

This car is the most fun I've had behind the wheel at an autox. Selling because my wife is expecting and I won't have the time to put in a full season for a few years. Everything mechanical on the car is top-shelf, from the most reputable MR2 vendors. Car is turnkey. I've done nothing but put gas in for the last 4-5 events, including Nationals.

Quick Stats:
343whp/303tq on 100U (I run this, plenty of power)
361whp/314tq on 110L
~2550 lbs, min weight of 2397 lbs is acheivable
0.9x fwd g's at a pro-solo launch--beats both RX7s to 200'

Notable 2008 SM2 finishes:
-1st and 3rd, 2008 San Diego National Tour
-3rd and 4th, 2008 Solo2 Nationals

Chassis:
1991 MR2 Hardtop (originally a non-turbo model)
Nautical Blue color
Zero options except PS and ABS

Engine:
2.14L MCS-built forged stroker 8500-rpm MR2 turbo motor. Full build list and actual motor pictured here.
KO Racing GT2871 ball-bearing turbo kit
Hydra Nemesis EMS tuned by RickyB at Turbohoses R&D
Blitz SBC i-D boost controller
Custom intake to Celica manifold, RSR exhaust with silencer

Dyno:

Fuel:
5-gal trunk-mount fuel cell with working stock fuel level gauge
SX fuel pump with pre/post filters
Wolfkatz Engineering 84lb injectors and rail
Aeromotive FPR

Drivetrain:
Hybrid MR2/Camry manual transmission (for ideal autox gearing)
Kaaz 1.5-way clutch type LSD
Fidanza lightweight flywheel
Clutchmasters Stage 3 clutch
ChicoRaceWorks lifetime guarantee axles

Suspension/Steering:
Suspension modeled in Susprog3D, file included
Custom built Koni double-adjustable 8611 coilovers, spare springs included
Custom front camber/caster plates
T3 modified rear camber plates
ST and TRD adjustable front sway bars
GAB f/r strut tower bars (not installed)
Vmax performance steering pinion (quicker)

Wheels/Tires:

(2) Bogart 15x10 w/ 275/35/15 Hoosier A6 (front)
(2) SSR Competition 18x10.5 w/ 315/30/18 Hoosier A6 (rear)
(2) CCW 17x12 w/ 315/35/17 Hoosier A6 (optional rear)

Other:
APR wing with elements placed using CFD software modeling
Sparco Ultra driver and passenger seats (13# each) w/custom fixed rails
Lightweight Odyssey battery
Wilwood brake prop valve (ABS disabled)

With a little over a year of real development, this car already has proven it can run at the top, and there are still areas where more time can be found. Couple that with a 0.2-0.3 second advantage per side at a pro-solo and the car could be dominant. This is an opportunity for someone to take a very good, reliable, top autox car and make it the top dog. Car is easy to drive fast. Turbo was chosen by my codriver who works for Garrett, and is perfectly sized and very linear. It's just plain fun and gets more attention than anything in the parking lot. :)

Car is registered and tagged in CA through 4/09.

Over $30k in parts invested excluding labor and purchase of car.
Asking $23k.

If buyer pays asking price, I'll include the Carson deluxe car hauler with tire rack and brakes.

Open to partial/full trades for other fun, rwd, stock class/daily driver cars (S2000, MR2 spyder, etc.)
