Spec Miata, from the Dominating SM Chistian Family

Post by Mako Koiwai »

We're passing on this one and not because of the gorgeous color. At the Infield AX Practice this weekend, the Christian family stopped by so that their extended family could get some Solo runs ... their Spec Miata's are single seaters. Three brothers and Dad are trying to get Sis Lindsey to also race. They thought perhaps she could start by auto crossing her RX-8. In exchange for our taxi services, they let Steve Collins and myself do a run with one of their five SM Miata's ... after Ken L. did a quick Tech on the car. The cars are noisy, lack a bit of low end grunt but of course handle great. This car has been beautifully rebuilt after a minor roll over. The frame was not damaged, they replaced the bent fenders and doors. The Christian boys were in the top of the four SM races last weekend. I think they had three wins and a 2nd, besides filling in other top five places ... out of something like 35 cars.

I talked to my dad a few minutes ago and it seems we are not quite ready to sell my green car, he at least wants to wait till we get the 99 car and build it so i have a competitive car to race in the meantime. He did say however that the pink Miata had been listed on ebay for 8500 but if you were serious he would want around 6000 for it. (Special SCCA/CSCC Offer!) I think that's a pretty good deal considering the cage alone is the cost of a donor car. The spec suspension on it also costs 1200 not to mention the cost of the wheels/tires. We can also throw in a couple sets of slightly used RA-1's since we have a bunch left over since they swapped to the R888's this year. If you are interested let me know and I would be happy to show you the car in person if you would like. I have attached a couple of pictures of the car so you can get an idea of what it looks like. The motor in it is a fresh crate motor from Mazda that has roughly 5 hours on it or less. The seat in an aluminum Kirkey with the pad, the wheels are Team Dynamics Pro Race 1's. Steering wheel I believe is Momo and the intake is a straight pipe with the filter. The exhaust is essentially a straight pipe with a high flow muffler maintaining the factory exhaust tubing path. Let me know if you have any question.

Thanks,
Austin

I was just wondering that myself. Or whether my eyes were screwing with me.

They were even PINKER ... I reduced the saturation, but it's still a bit over the top.

Renee should have this car!

But how would you get the pepto bismol out? What? That's not pepto; it's paint? Who would do that to a poor little Miata...
