I was thinking of one, to sort out which of my pile of tires is best (fingernail test with a bit of science thrown in). What do you use? Where from? How much?
Thanks.

Re: Durometer user?
I have a Longacre. I think I got it from CS2. Best practice is take cold readings before and after each event and record them. Lazy practice is to do what I do, which is randomly take readings when I'm curious.Bob Plante wrote:I was thinking of one, to sort out which of my pile of tires is best (fingernail test with a bit of science thrown in). Henry's got the Longacre version. Seems a bit inconsistent ... easily influenced by uneven surfaces on used tires.

Re: Durometer user?
You know of one that wouldn't be? What you see as inconsistency could actually be a finer level accuracy then you expect. On tires with some wear, the ratings aren't going to be as consistent as on fresh, un-scrubbed rubber.Mako Koiwai wrote:Henry's got the Longacre version.
