S2000 maintenance question
Time for my 2004 S2000 (8k rpm redline) to get the 30K mile service. I wanted to know if anyone uses any special lubricants in place of the genuine honda oils. It will get diff oil, trans oil, coolant, brake fluid, engine oil. Am i missing anything?
I'm going to go with genuine honda replacement (engine oil i use mobil 1 10w-30) unless any one knows of a better alternative.
Thanks,
Darren

Re: S2000 maintenance question
I changed my old oils out with Mobile 1 synthetics throughout......a bit more money but a little more slippery.

Re: S2000 maintenance question
I recently changed the diff oil with Mobil 75w-90. If you look closely at the oil you'll see tiny metal shavings and especially near the drain bolt which I believe is magnetic to attract such microscopic like shavings. Definitely wanna pay some attention to this change.
Do a search on s2ki and you'll find lots of info.

I agree. Be very careful what diff. fluids you use. The dealer put the wrong one in and ruined my diff.

Kathy,
Just out of curiosity, what was the 'wrong' fluid that was put in?

That's pretty stupid. There are some manual gearboxes that use something akin to ATF, but no diffs that I've heard of.George Schilling wrote:I think they put in atfKen Motonishi wrote:Kathy,

I see they have honda trans oil and AC delco syncro oil. Do you know if you are supposed to use just the ac delco stuff or mix them?Pete Loney wrote:This dif oil has been talked about alot on s2ki...

Re: S2000 maintenance question
I went with the 607 diff oil, Honda MTF, and Honda Dot 3 brake fluid. Install coming soon. I sent out for blackstone tester kits to run the engine oil, diff, and trans. I'm scared what might come out. Most people changed earlier than 30K and the oil was very dirty.
There is a sqealling sound when i drive at speed right now. It goes away if i move the wheel to left or brake (even just slightly). It seems as though one of the pads is dragging on the disc.
Anyone ever experinanced something like this?

Re: S2000 maintenance question
Front brake pads are likely worn out.
In the future use your brakes less on the course.
