stil trying to figure out why you need to be 18 or older to order the gun rack...
it's only paranoia if your wrong
Re: Gun lovers ...
Lol...it just a rack. Maybe if you are under 18, you are more likely to pull out the rack and beat the intruder to death with itChuck Fowler wrote:stil trying to figure out why you need to be 18 or older to order the gun rack...

I love how they pull the 2nd Amendment into the commercial. I seriously doubt our forefathers had this in mind when they signed the Bill of Rights. I see lawsuits in the future for this product when Bubba Steele accidently shoots his foot or leg off while getting out of bed in the middle of the night to go pee.
I wonder if the "Back Up" would work for my golf club. Personally, I prefer my 64 degree lob wedge for protection at night. It gives me better accuracy up close. ;)
I also really want to know if it's true that "many customers are buying one for each side of the bed!" Where the heck do these people live that they require shotgun access on both sides of their bed. Wouldn't it be more prudent just to move?

I use one of those miniature Dodgers bats that they give away once or twice a season. Those things are wicked, if you know how to use them.Dennis R. I have dogs. And a piolet:

Re: Gun lovers ...
i find that i'm a lot more likely to use a "weapon" if i don't have to worry about killing a person with it.
if i had a gun, i'd probably hesitate before firing, to consider if it's really my only option.
this, on the other hand. i'd swing away without hesitation.

It'd be pretty easy to kill someone with one of those too.Jeff Shyu wrote:i find that i'm a lot more likely to use a "weapon" if i don't have to worry about killing a person with it.

Seriously? Pretty ignorant about American history. The founding fathers clearly and adamantly supported gun ownership. Most felt it was the responsibility of a citizen to own and know how to properly use firearms.Dennis R. Brown, DDS wrote:I love how they pull the 2nd Amendment into the commercial. The argument against gun ownership should be times have changed significantly and the 2nd amendment is long past its usefulness and should be changed. Great... The constitution provides for an amendment process. Prohibition was repealed, so too could this one. What? That's too hard? Then tough.

If you swing at something else, you're just gonna piss the intruder off. If you're going to use a weapon, use it like you mean it. The best fight (aside from one where no one takes a swing) is one that's over after one blow.Jeff Shyu wrote:ehh.. i guess if i was swinging away at the head or something..

Re: Gun lovers ...
A friend of mine seriously injured a robber with a sand wedge once. A guy jumped the fence at a golf course and pulled a knife on a playing partner to rob him. My friend blindsided the robber with a baseball swing to the head. I know the guy suffered a fractured skull and brain damage. I don't know how bad. My friend was under threat of prosecution for several months and hired a criminal defense attorney, but they ended up never pressing charges.
Before kidlet, I was heavily armed and knew how to use them properly. Post kids, oh well, what do you want, take it... Here let me open the safe... Its hidden over here. Would you like a beer??? Hears the keys to my bimmer.

Re: Gun lovers ...
Cop told me to just make sure the body is on my property, ie. drag it if you have to. (watch out for those bloody smears)
A Sheriff friend of "ours" surprised me while visiting me at work. Met him as he happened to pull into the parking lot ... with his service piece tucked in next to his thigh. Noticing my surprise, he said something like, "this is not a good area." I sure didn't think that. But of course a Sheriff never knows when he's going to run into an ex hard core "customer." He also said that he and his brothers would never allow themselves to be boxed in while in their service car in certain areas. They would drive over sidewalks and through red lights to make sure that didn't happen.
Another time we pulled into a gas station, near the freeway. After looking around, he pulled out and went to another station down the street. He said the first gas station was gang land. We're not talking South Central, this was off the 14 near Lancaster! At the next station, he by chance ran into a fellow sherif, both of these guys were not in uniform. They said yeah, don't use that first station, gang territory! These guys live in a completely different world then we do! We live in ignorant bless, and those guys really do put themselves in harms way protecting us, 24/7.

That's poor advice- it matters what the guy is doing and where he is when you shoot him, not where he ends up. Here's better advice "The guy said 'I'm going to kill you" as he reached for his waistband.'"Mako Koiwai wrote:Cop told me to just make sure the body is on my property, ie. drag it if you have to. What he said, according to Me, versus where he was or ended up. I don't know anything about this ... just saying what a Cop told me after a break in.

Re: Gun lovers ...
Screw you Steve!! You need to lay off who you call ignorant regarding history! I didn't mention whether I was for or against guns in my reply. Fact is, you don't know which side of the gun control issue I take. You probably assumed because I was a liberal I was against guns. In fact, unless I have already stated my opinion on an issue, you don't know which side I stand unless you ASSume! When I made my comment, I was referring to the product's use of the 2nd Amendment as a selling point, and not whether the 2nd Amendment should be "repealed"!Steve Ekstrand wrote:Seriously? Guess what Steve, you are NOT the only person who went to, or got accepted to, Law School! However, I can probably say, with a great deal of certainty, that you did not go to Dental School! Would you like to compare LSAT scores? Would you like to compare acceptance letters and scholarship offers? I'll tell you what I'm going to do Steve, since I can't use my 2001 LSAT scores, I'm going to take the LSAT again. Afterwards, I am going go back to Law School! I will need to stay in Southern California since I live here now. There are 8 Bar-approved schools in the immediate area (LA, OC, and SD counties), so I will pick one, and go for FREE.
BTW, it's probably time to move this to the PP Forum!

At the time I graduated, I was the highest LSAT score Pepperdine University's School of Law had ever attracted to their institution. Apparently, scantron machines like me.
The only part that applied directly to you, DocBrown, was in regards to your description of what the founding fathers felt. I considered about as wrong as a person could get on such matters.
