What are you looking for? Canto? American Style Chinese food? Something more authentic? Dim Sum? Noodles? Hong Kong Style?\

Hey Katy,

Sam Woo's is just a block away from where I live in Irvine:

http://www.samwooirvine.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It's one of those big traditional dining room places.

If you're feeling brave, I prefer this small and slightly scary place in Fountain Valley, called Foo Wing Low:

If you go, tell Kenny I said hi!

I vote for Sam Woo's if it's like the Sam Woo's in other parts of the Los Angeles area.

It's certainly not *traditional* Chinese, but Pei Wei is in The District at Jamboree and Barranca... just around the corner from K1!

They offer the option of brown rice with their entrees, and the prices are incredibly reasonable. You can eat there for about $2 more than Baja Fresh.

Henry and I recently finished a Panda Express commercial ... for their new Sweet and Spicy Chicken ... developed by "traditional" chinese chefs. Looks good ... we didn't get to taste it.

Panda Express ... probably near you/Costa Mesa and Irvine ...

New ones not "up" yet.

Here are the last couple of shoots ... the food shots and head gear elements: (their real development chefs doing the wok flips)

wasn't that good in my opinion. It wasn't bad either though, more like what you'd expect from Americanized Chinese food.

"Dirty" Chinese restaurants serve the best Chinese food IMO.

One of my former Times' bosses used to go to Chinatown and order without a menu. Chicken's feet and the like. Glad I never accompanied him.

Chicken feet you can probably get from most dim sum places. The taste of the chicken feet is fine since it's all sauce. But feeling the texture of that loose bumpy skin on your tongue and watching the foot being dissected in stages from being fully intact to just the bone is too much for me to handle.

Tender and juicy. YUMMMMMMMMMMM

All this chicken feet talk is making me think of a bunch other Chinese foods that would gross most people out. Me so hungly now

We were filming in a popular chinese restaurant in China Town/LA. Kitchen REALLY was filthy. Our Fire Inspector said that's the way most of them are ... but you're right ... those are the best ones!

Filth is inversely proportional to tastiness.
For Korean restaurants, replace "filth" with "service."

Sam Woo and Irvine should not be said in the same sentence...too bad they are nothing like their LA counter parts..

Why do you need service when you're cooking the food yourself?

Well, there's always the 'ol Seafood Paradise in Westminster if Dim Sum is a must.
