Post by Scott Richardson »

My name is Scott I'm new to AutoX in the socal area, Mike Shin turned me onto this forum and gave me some other useful resources. I did some light AutoX in Reno, NV and have been mainly doing road racing down here. Looking to do some light AutoX to hone my skills in the future.

This is what I look like.

Welcome Scott! There's a big school (Sat)/practice (Sun) weekend coming up in mid November. Great opportunity, the region doesn't organize those very often. Best instructor line up I've seen at a local region school. Enough national wood in their bios to reforest China. I'd did one in July 2000 after doing several events and it totally transformed my autox experience in one weekend.

This Saturday is the SCNAX Cup which is a fun team competition. Might have a few practice slots available. Sunday is open championship day. All welcome. You save by pre-registering. On championship days there is a $25 second entry (Xruns) available with no additional work requirement if you want to stretch the day and seat time out.

Does Scott need to know about entering a Practice event ... I'm assuming he's being invited to run during the SCNAX Cup?

When i was attending it, it was at the Stead Airport North of Reno.

They also used to do them at the Squaw Valley Parking lot too i think, we have one 2 day event at the Airport in Lovelock too.

BTW, what time should i show up for sat's event ? and bring ? just the usual stuff ? water, basic tools, jack, air gauge, torque wrench ?

Thanks Scott,

My father-in-law lives in Reno, so there is an Itsy bitsy teeny weeny chance the wife and I will end up there for retirement, to take care of him.

As far as Saturday, bring all the usual stuff, including lots of water. If you have an EZ Up, bring it. If you have a water jug for tire cooling, bring it. It will be pretty warm in Fontana this weekend. Show up time (at least for me) is NLT 6:30. Time to set up pit, tech, register, and several course walks. About 6 blocks south of the track, on Cherry Ave (1 block north of the freeway), there is Jack-in-the-Box, Carl's, and Del Taco. There are 3 gas stations on the same corners if you need fuel or air.
