Just Curious About Number Choices...
Just for fun, I'm curious as to how folks ended up with their competition numbers. In my case, my number, "878" is my wedding anniversary - August 1978. What about your number?
Edit to add: In 2010 my number is 87. Cheaper, and easier to put on. However, I still celebrate in August with the better half. Hope to 'till end of days.

Re: Just Curious About Number Choices...
I started out with my house number 347, I recently switched to 397 so I could make the 97 permanent.
Re: Just Curious About Number Choices...
Just switched from 333 to 88. I like repeating numbers. It's the OCD.

It was an available two digit number with a matching 1xx number.

Re: Just Curious About Number Choices...
818 was my lame area code ... but funny enough a number of Team Blew numbers ended up having double 8's ... 886, 868, 848, 888 ... plus a few more that have now been dropped.
Karen and I I changed our numbers now so we could use Brian's pre-made numbers and easily change between them: 716 & 719![Sad :(](./images/smilies/2.gif)

Re: Just Curious About Number Choices...
Gio gave me 104, it worked since 401 was available in San Diego.
Wanted a 2 digit number for the Sprite and 42 was available so this year it will be 42. I can not for the life of me remember why, must of been the birth year of somebody very famous!!

Re: Just Curious About Number Choices...
'97 - Started with 205 (lowest number available, plus "2" has been my favorite number since I was about 4yrs old).
~'00 Became 502 when a renewal was not logged as received on accident, only combo my three magnetic digits would make that was available.
~'01 Grabbed 83 following year (highest two digit number that became available, Tour / Prosolo's consideration) Though I have typically run '98 or '97.....
'04 Moved to LA, Art has 83, so 80 was the closest.
'08 Got 80 in San Diego to match.

232 was the size of the engine in my first car and became "my number" - used it as my personal code in the coded-beeper-message days before widespread cell phone usage, too.

Re: Just Curious About Number Choices...
Started with 162, that is what they gave me. Following year, changed it to 166, I had a 66 Mustang, and it was the closest. Few years later, I got 66. Tried for years to get 6 from Vern Bowen, because it was my road race # at the time, and I liked Mark Martin. I bugged our membership chair for years for a single digit, turned out, his own daughter was not going to renew her number, 5, so I got it in 2000. A year later, I get a call from Vern, "hey, you want to trade numbers?" He had always wanted 5, but Keli wouldn't give it up. So now I have 6 ![Happy :)](./images/smilies/1.gif)
Yo, Mike S., I want your 6![Happy :)](./images/smilies/1.gif)

Re: Just Curious About Number Choices...
- 536 - (fifth letter of the alphabet is "E") + 36 = E36 (E=is the initial for the German word for "development" of the chassis series #36). That's what 1995-1999 BMW 3 series (including M cars) were. I had a '97, then a '99 M3.
- 546 - Same as above but for any 2001-2007 BMW 3 series (including M cars) were labelled. Currently my daily-driver is a 2002 BMW M3

Re: Just Curious About Number Choices...
My original LA number was 505 - Common police code for reckless driving. It was taken in SD, so I was 287 (my engine size) down there. Used 50 nationally since I had them, pissed off a lot of mustang guys in ESP, that part was fun too.
Currently 65 was available and jived with my codriver.

Re: Just Curious About Number Choices...
totally lacking creativity and seeing what was available I picked the yr I was born only 3 digits 1951 = 951.
Little did I know that it would work for Tour and Pro events and a co-driver. Juist dumb noncreative luck

First 30 years of autocrossing were in various 240Z's. Hanging on to it cuz I'd like to build another Z-car to autocross someday.

It's just taking forever to figure out exactly what it is that's broken! The engine is now spread all over my kitchen counter.

Do they make "crate" shifter kart motors? If they do, what do they ship them, in a shoe box?Rick Brown wrote: Hey, it's only broken once.
