Mother Nature, Autox and Thanks
Posted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 9:20 pm
For only the second time in memory, we had to cancel and event due to rain, or more specifically flooding in our lot. But mother nature made up for it today as she provided a perfect day for autox.
I want to thank all the chiefs and volunteers who made this happen. Let's start with Eric Clements and Toby Larsson. After having Eric's course washed out by the flooding, Eric and Toby went right to work to salvage what was left of the lot to create a fast, fun course. With their leadership and others volunteering, we had the course ready to go in record time with the start of the event being delayed only about 30 minutes.
I'd to give a special shout out and thanks to my team of worker chiefs starting with our worker chief Mike Kazmierczak, timing and scoring chief Rick Brown, waiver chief Ron Tsumura, chief of tech Quoc-Viet Dang, chief of registration Joey Schilling, Bob Hempy our safety steward, and Gayle and Maggie Jardine who handled registration without a hitch. These were the folks that an event chief counts on to pull and event together and make it seem like we know what were doing. I must say this team performed as well as any I've seen. QV, I got around to thanking everyone personally except you. Please accept my apology for my oversight. You, along with the rest did an outstanding job.
I also want to thank those that stayed behind for fun runs and clean-up. We had everything picked-up and packed in record time. As a bonus for staying we treated ourselves to some fun runs and had an absolute blast before the clean-up effort.
Lastly, thank you to those that took a chance and came to the event today. I know things were a bit iffy, but I hope you feel we made it worth your time to come out. As I've said before, without you, we'd have no event.
Thanks again to all,
George Schilling
