Bill Chin and His Camaro in Camaro Performers Magazine

Post by Lisa Severy »

Next time you are passing by the magazine aisle in your favorite grocery store - pick up the July issue of "Camaro Performers" magazine. The cover has a "head on" shot of a second generation Camaro that is red w/white stripes down the hood. There are three pictures of Bill Chin and his blue Camaro, one of which is a "feature size" action shot of him autocrossing at the Super Chevy event in Las Vegas last March. It's a great picture. The title of the article is "Party Crashers". Bill's car was also pictured in the July 2010 issue of "Super Chevy" magazine (only we think it is me behind the wheel in that shot). For those who know Mary Pozzi (multiple SCCA Solo championships to her credit), she was the winner of the open class both days of the event. There are some good pictures of her in her ride in both magazines. I had a chance to ride with her - and I was very impressed at how she made that Gen One Camaro dance through the course. There is quite a bit of autocross coverage in both magazines. These events are sponsored and getting quite a bit of promotion. It is nice to see that the sport of autocrossing is getting some attention in other venues and publications other than Grassroots and Sports Car.

I read somewhere, last fall, that she was driving the TCI Camero (Total Cost Involved: http://www.totalcostinvolved.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ), then I was in Pleasenton for the Good Guys car show and she was there kicking everyone's butt... Right after the Las Vegas event I was in TCI, here in Ontario, looking for some suspension parts and talked to the guy who seemed to be in charge. We talked about the car and the fact that he also drove it in Vegas and was a bit behind Mary (a couple of seconds, is what he said, IIRC). The car is the test mule for their parts and is a long way removed from a "Gen One Camaro".
