The time has come to move this one on to the next phase. The car does run and I can drive it on to a trailer but,

The Bad: Number three cylinder has Zero compression. The back shocks are soft. The wiper motor had stripped the gears to start the wipers, once you get them started they will complete the window. The Climate control unit is in default mode, I have spares that I never got around to installing. The radio is in safety mode, no code to get it working. The catalytic converter is empty.

The Good: The clutch is less than two years old, apx. 10,000 miles. The front struts, wheel bearings and rear trailing arm bushings were done at the same time. The distributor was just replaced along with the plugs, wires, cap and rotor. The A/C works, the R-12 was recharged when the condenser was replaced. The rear brakes and rotors have less than 2000 miles. I have two sets of 15X6 rims that go with the car, the white basket weaves and a set of 5000 CS Quattro rims.

The car is being sold as Parts car, I am going to turn in the plates when it goes, $500.

David, what does "I am going to turn in the plates when it goes" mean?

The car can still be registered as a salvage, correct?

I'm not familiar with plates being returned to the DMV.

The car, as it sit's, will not pass smog. On transfer to the new owner a smog ckeck has to be done and the old owner is on the hook to get it passed.

I will transfer the title, with the plates on the car, as long as every one understands that I will not be on the hook for getting it thru the smog system. Including our friends at the DMV. If I can not make big brother happy, it goes for parts.
