Does anyone need a tow rig to go to Lincoln?
Without getting into all the details, I'm getting my race car transported out to the Finale & Nationals, and am flying out, but need to get my van (holding extra tires and spare parts - but PLENTY of room for more) to Lincoln in time for the Finale and then back to So. Cal. after the last two days of Nats. (Thursday-Friday). Would anyone want, for the price of maintenance (About $200) to use my van and open trailer with: twin axle, electric brake on one axle, with two space tires and spare wheel bearings, to tow out their race car? We would work out how to use the van once out there as I'd need it as my "daily driver" but I bet we could work that out.
Let me know!
TIA
Bill

You can always press Bill to use the van as a shuttle to Pat's Pig.

Wait. I thought you said you needed that van to be in Lincoln. You're charging people to help you? ;)

:ibrightdea: I think he meant he'll rent you the trailer for a messily $200, as long as you use his Van to tow it.Tom Tanquary wrote:Wait. I thought you said you needed that van to be in Lincoln. You're charging people to help you? ;)Bill Schenker wrote: (About $200) to use my van

Does anyone want to drive to Nats for $$?
Actually what's happening is that we're overbooked by one car on the transporter to Nats.
How about the possibility of the transporter group paying someone ~$1000 to tow a car out?
Not a bad deal for someone(s) who is :
- Already going to Nats
- A karter
- A codriver
- Caravaning out with others.
- Spectators who want to check the Nats experience and see the U. S. of A. Woo-hoo party van! (sorry Bill)

Who pays for the gas?
if I would have to pay the gas it would be another ~800 $ + 2 lodging night on the way here and back ~ 100$ minimum =900$ + "couple of hundeds fo mintenance" = 1100$
Thant would mean I save ~ 150$ on a flight just so I can take 2 extra days of work $$$ and pay for 2 more hotel nights $$$.
The devil is in the details ...

I would like details ...
Gas: ~$650 (3000mi./13mpg x $2.80/gl. [on avg.] = $646.15
Motel: ~$130
Maintenance: ~$200 (transmission flush/fluid + oil change)
Lost days of work: 4 (two days out/two days back)
---------
~$1000.00 + lost income from days not worked.
So yes, going out there via towing can be $$$ and not much cheaper than the cost of plane ticket and transporter - this is why I chose the transporter!
This makes sense for those that need to get their car out there and don't/can't drive it and don't have a tow rig; for those, I think it makes great sense as renting a rig would be VERY expensive and all I'm asking for is the cost of an oil change and making sure it has fresh trans fluid for the long haul. The van is solid, the trailer is solid and comes with 2 extra tires and extra wheel bearings.
Thanks to all that are considering going with this.

7qts. Mobil1 + Mobil1 filter.
I think you need to take better care of your tow vehicles.
