Tire Rack Link

Post by Kurt Rahn »

Looks like the link at the bottom of the page to Tire Rack is broken. I keep getting a 404 error from a site called phpbb.com, which I assume the site was routed through or something.

works for me. Don't click on the PHPbb link right bellow the Tirerack ad... which also works for me, haha

Works for me ... I "test" it every other day or so. :-)

I always try to go a step deeper into the Tire Rack site ... click on the other deals on the left hand side of the first page.

Huh. Weird. I'll try Firefox and see if it's my browser.

Edit: you're right, Aaron. I just went to the computer next to me and it came right up. I must be having mouse tracking issues or something, because I think it is clicking on the phpbb.com link under the ad.

Just made my contribution to the region with my purchase via the link at the bottom. Price comparison, Dunlop has gone up (at least with the rears). The fronts are $35 less than the Yokohama Advan Neovas 08.

I would have tried the cheaper Hankook RS3's ... assuming they had your sizes. It was interesting at the last event how the Toyo cars were often fastest on their first laps and then slowed down, while the Hankook shod cars got faster.

I didn't look for the Hankook (model Ventus R-S3) because I wasn't looking for them (even though they're $130 cheaper and they did come in the bigger size I was looking for). You're comparing Toyos which aren't that good for heavier cars. Dunlops or Yokohama I'm familiar with both of their performances plus I'm not auto-xing my car in SCCA (just a few BMWCCA events for fun).

I understand this tread was brought back from the dead and now completely off topic...

I would like to defend Toyo on the "does not work on heavy cars." I believe they do work on heavy cars. My under prepared car is 3400lbs with the driver and I have done pretty well with the Toyo's. Just a good data point.

Again, my post was to say I contributed to the region by purchasing from TireRack via the region's link. Mako then took it off-topic with his Toyo vs. Hankooks comparison. Good to hear your experience Tin (especially in a BMW). But since I'm not auto-xing it's a moot point. Also The Tire Rack does NOT sell Toyo tires.

Karen and I are getting ready to buy new tires for next year ... which entails many visits to The Tire Rack via our ad to compare

Mako, I think the club only gets money if you actually buy something. They get nothing for a visit.

I think y'all are overreacting to Mako's off-hand comment about Toyos & Hankooks and the two short replies to it. I don't think a 3-post digression takes a thread "way off topic".

No, the club, like most web sites get money for "hits" on their sponsor links ... tiny amounts that add up. That's why a biz like Google rakes in Billions. It's businesses paying pennies for all of those hits/searches.

Ah, but the racecar is not the only vehicle we own. I recently put new shocks on my 2.5RS street car, purchased through the tirerack link.

Now if we can just get you to contribute $$ to the region in the traditional way!

I once had all my tires come up due at the same tire, race and street cars. I ended up with 20+ tires on my 2nd level condo porch (spanning 145/12 tires and 335/17 V710s). Got a personal thanks from the banner owner.
