Course Setup - Feb 12-13
I need course setup workers for this next event in February. I am allowed to exempt (3) from their worker assignment for the practice. Looks like we are going to try and go for an early Friday setup at approx. 1PM. Further details will be discussed via email or PM. Please contact me at jonlugod@gmail.com (760) 716 2927

Remove the "experienced" and you'll get volunteers. I want to volunteer but right now I'm thinking you are going to beat me with a big piece of chalking dry wall if I don't know the proper spacing between slalom cones

Jon - I loved the course. Thought it flowed well and had good visuals. Great use of all the space available without actually using ALL the space and ALL the cones in the trailer.

Certainly proves that with the right course you can break the PAX indexing pretty good.John Stimson wrote:Fun course! Crazy big fast sweeper.

It was a medium fast course where you went 40-55mph with no major points of slowdown (even in the supra). The PAX disadvantage that the low HP speed maintenance cars get is from when they have to slow down before an acceleration zone. The results are proof enough though.
It's certainly happened in my favor plenty of times. The Divisional last year was high speed all sweepers with a few decent slow turn arounds, killing the ST cars. The 08 Pro finale when Max and I co-drove his STi, I felt bad for anyone not in an 06 Short geared STi, it was all 90+ degree corners with tiny straights.

Lets see.... Marshall got beat raw scratch time by a ST civic ( Will ). Think maybe course design matters?Marshall Grice wrote:as the only car with over 200whp in the top 30, I agree with Aaron.

I was actually having too much fun figuring out my car to notice the other times...Tom Berry wrote:Lets see.... Marshall got beat raw scratch time by a ST civic ( Will ). Think maybe course design matters?Marshall Grice wrote:as the only car with over 200whp in the top 30, I agree with Aaron.
Ok - my complaint. Since I was having engine issues the first 200 feet and the last 250 feet, I'd say it was about 450 feet too long.

The STR S2000's should be a bit over 200 WHP. I didn't want to break your trend analysis, but obviously Bob didn't get the memo. :mrt:Marshall Grice wrote:as the only car with over 200whp in the top 30, I agree with Aaron.

Re: Course Setup - Feb 12-13
Your point is valid but Marshall beat me scratch - 47.166 to my 47.528 (or 47.194 X run - but no telling what Marshall would have gotten in an X run). I'd say it's nearly impossible to consistently put an ST car in or above the Berry/Simanyi/Larsson/Buetzer bloc so I'd just say it's one of those events that went one way and not the other. The current ST National (class-crushing) Champion was running the same events all last year so that's a pretty good indicator.Tom Berry wrote:Lets see.... (And I'm not just saying that because of my good result this weekend, just figuring...)
Besides, Marshall already stated, above, that horsepower was a disadvantage. Shoulda turned it down - LOL }:)

Make that 230.Marshall Grice wrote:as the only car with over 200whp in the top 30, I agree with Aaron.
Aaron, I'm just kidding you for caring about PAX course effects in a car that seems like it would have a rough time in PAX anyway. I agree, there seems to be a definite pattern to the results. A stratification, even.
But that was a wicked fun sweeper, nonetheless.
Re: Course Setup - Feb 12-13
I don't think I've ever understeered so continuously for that distance. I basically turned the wheel and left it in position, then controlled the understeer with the throttle. It was fun!John Stimson wrote:But that was a wicked fun sweeper, nonetheless.

Re: Course Setup - Feb 12-13
hey don't get me wrong, the course was tons of fun. Just not very balanced. I have to say though it was quite impressive to lay out a course on nearly 1 million square feet and not have 1 straight away.
btw, i did beat Will on scratch. I have some dignity left.

quick! to the SCCAForums to start a thread about combining ST with BSP because clearly they're just as fast as us!
