Hey guys, its been a while since I've ran an event with CSCC, but I'll be out there this Sunday.
Anyways, I have a quick question because I know most of the people here are tire experts. I bought a pair of Michelin Pilot Sports used on ebay for $50 for the front of my car and before I mounted them I wanted to make sure that they weren't ancient. These date codes on the tires are a little different than what I'm used to seeing so I have to ask if the tires are really this old.
So this tire was made in the 14th week of 2000?

And this one was made the 46th week of 1998?

If that's the case, then I'm definitely not going to use them and I guess I'll just eat the $50.
Some of you may remember that I had a Miata at a few events in '09, but I sold that after I realized that 2 cars for a 20 year old was totally impractical. Now I'm solely driving the Crown Vic which is still kicking with 170,000 miles.
Anyways, I'm looking forward to getting back out there on Sunday and thanks for the tire help!

Yep, you read the date codes correctly, those tires are older than the Fj kids

Re: DOT Date Code Tire Question
Why would two cars for a 20 year old be too much, other than maybe expense?

Re: DOT Date Code Tire Question
No that was pretty much the only reason, just too much financially.
So anyone want a couple 255/45-17 Pilot Sports for cheap?

I ignored that part. At 20 I had two cars and a house...Arthur Grant wrote:Why would two cars for a 20 year old be too much, other than maybe expense?
