adjusting harness

Post by Kris Cho »

i finally installed a harness bar and harness for my Z.
But i THINK there's a little problem in adjusting harness. Couple of days ago, as i was doing search on harness, i saw that the Kamlock should be positioned in pelvic area (below belly) when everything is tightened up.
In my case, after connecting all the straps to the kamlock, and pull down the shoulder straps really hard, the kamlock rises to LITTLE above my belly. Do not feel comfortable.
How should i adjust the straps so that the shoulder straps are tight but kamlock is positioned below my belly?

This is the reason 4 points are dumb.
You really need a proper 5 point or 6 point harness.
The anti-sub strap helps position the cam lock properly, and keeps you from sliding out below the straps in an accident.

For now, you need to tighten the lap belts across the top of your thighs as tight as you can before putting any tension on the shoulder straps.

i do have 5 pts harness but i can't use the sub strap with my stock seat. In couple months, i'll get a racing seat. thanks for a tip

Kris a good shop can fix your problem by making a custom cut in the seat bottom. You will need a bar to hook it to if you don't already have one, but we have several machine shops that can do it, or you will find the parts on line. Cheaper than a racing seat. The seats in your car are already first rate. Spend the money you would use on the seat for some decent tires.

Your talking one of the birde clones from the place over in Walnut. There nice bling, don't know that I would think they are any better than what you have, but the tires would help more.
