I posted a problem with my AC compressor a couple weeks ago, and Tom managed to find a replacement for me.
I *was* thinking i would just pull the old one off, slap the new one in, and be done with it, but Tom brought up a really good point - IF the failed compressor sent crap through the AC system, that needs to be addressed before the new compressor's installed.
I'm simply not comfortable enough with that task to do it myself.
so, any suggestions for a shop near Long Beach who is good with AC?

I've used these guys many times, however I've heard that the owner has sold the business within the last year. Haven't had an opportunity to use them since and haven't confirmed if it's true or if it has affected service. When I have used this company in the past, I've been very happy with the result.

just getting back to this, $220 for the labor. does that sound reasonable?George Schilling wrote:Temco Radiator

I don't mean that to be a rhetorical question, it's that I generally do everything myself, and $220 sounds like a lot for pure labor, considering I was able to remove the compressor myself in 20 minutes under the car?

If that's for installing, evacuation, and recharge.......sounds reasonable to me. But the only way to know if that's the best you can do is to shop it.Jeff Shyu wrote:just getting back to this, $220 for the labor. does that sound reasonable?George Schilling wrote:Temco Radiator

yeah, I thought about that after, that it's ~60+ for recharging the system, so the labor cost isn't that high.
i'll give them another call to confirm that the 220 is all inclusive, and if so, probably have them do it.
thanks again for the heads up.
