Toyo R888

Post by Steve Towers »

I'm considering going back to street tires and I see the Toyo R888 comes in Corvette sizes (for me that's 275/17 and 315/18). Anyone have experience? If it makes a difference - my car weighs about 3200.

I thought the R888 was a sub-140 UTOG?

Yup. My thinker took a timeout. But, I might still consider them for PCA events. The tire budgeting thing is no fun, particularly in the larger sizes where availability is limited.

the triple 8's are sticker then the RA1's but fall off quickly ... in road racing. The Spec Miata guys didn't like them because they had to keep buying fresh rubber while the RA1's lasted a long time and were very consistent. They are now using the Hooser SM ... which is between a A6 and R6. It's only made in Spec Miata size.

Still looks like the only BIG performance street tire is the Kumho XS. We're using it in 315/335 and are very pleased with it.

Nitto Nt01 275/40/17 315/30/18 Discount tire direct. The fronts would be a little bigger in height. That shouldn't matter. These tires are very popular among the track day guys.

That's the tire I plan to put on the 911SC.

I have used both tires on the Mustang. The R888's where far better for autox, while the NT-01's where better for the track days.
