6 run groups, coming up!

Post by Mike Simanyi »

Casey Brier, this one's for you.

We - well, I don't want to take credit for KJ's work, so KJ has revised the run groups to distribute people as evenly as possible, and we're going to run six work and run groups for the next few events.

So get ready for a much shorter work session!

And by that, he means I asked Christine and she did a lot of work to distribute the people as evenly as possible.

Thanks Christine!

Five Run Groups plus a Jr. Karter Run Group = Six Groups and decent work lengths. ;)

No, 6 run groups. Jr Karts will be part of 4th group (right after lunch), no separate workers. Just not enough with 6 groups.

Here's the new run order: July 1st Run Order

Multi-driver cars with issues having all drivers in the same group please work it out with the Event Master and/or Timing & Scoring on an individual basis.

Yaaaa! I really hope it works out. I remember the days of 6 groups, it was really nice. 30 to 45 minutes of a little harder work is so much better in my personal opinion.:-D
I'm excited!

One downside is another worker change. It would really help if we could make "change on the fly" work properly. Maybe move the final stragglers into the rerun lane and don't hold things up for them. I work grid whenever I can get it. I'd love to try.

Having a pool of experienced and competent gridmeisters would make a huge impact. Having someone who's never done the job clog things up is a killer.

We be using the national style grid we used at the Super Regional and changing workers on the fly. Be prepared to be flexible just in case we need to combine groups or move a few people from one group to another to make it work. Two driver cars will need to change drivers quickly. Unless we have HUGE influx of entries, we'll be doing four runs.

Back in 05 when I started it was 8 run groups. 4 before lunch, and 4 after for a couple years.
If you ran first, you worked third.
If you worked 2nd, you ran 4th... And so on.
Worker changes were on the fly. Which was not a problem since you always had that group running/working in between your run and work sessions. (make sense?)

I don't think we have the number of entrants to pull that off these days, but back then it did work well.

I think they caped the number of racers to 200? Maybe 250? How many divers do we see these days?

I'm just happy that hopefully the 2 hour sessions are over. :-P

Thanks to the people that made this happen. Its worth a shot right?

Caps were more like 350, which we did hit a couple times in the '03ish era. in '05 we were still probably getting ~250.
