Election for 2009 Officers

Post by Rick Brown »

The elected officers for CSCC SOLO are Chair, Asst Chair and Treasurer.

At the 9/24 meeting, initial nominations were held and were:
Chair: Mike Simanyi and Jayson Woodruff
Asst Chair: Max Hayter
Treasurer: KJ Christopher

Nominations will continue to be received through the October meeting, with voting by the club reps at the end of the meeting. So if you have someone you think might be good in one of these jobs, ask them if they would be interested in running. If so, they can be nominated here, you don't have to wait until the next meeting.

In the meantime, maybe the candidates would like to post a statement of qualifications and where they want to take the club. Been a while since we have had more than one person running and, in my opinion at least, certainly not an easy choice in this case.

First time in a long time we've had a "race" and being that this is an election year in this country let's keep it clean gentlemen! :)

Club affiliations:

Chairs:
  • Mike Simanyi (PSCC)
  • Jayson Woodruff (none but prior was SCNAX)
Vice-Chair: Max Hayter (Team BLEW)

Treasurer: KJ Christopher (CASOC)

A good mix of club representation on the Executive Board. All other positions are "appointed" by said Chair in 2009.

Also I think it'd be good to have pics of the E-Board members and club reps on our site. Thoughts?

I'd run for Vice Chair, but Max has more vices than I do.

Seriously, I would like to see statements from each candidate and a list of Solo Committee and Executive Board members.

That's a good idea. Technically you get that by going to the main site and seeing "Contacts" but that's E-Board. Comm is all club reps and you'd have to go to each club to see who the rep is. I'll update the main site to part out each group and add an additional one:
  • Solo Committee
  • Executive Board
  • Solo Safety Stewards

One nominee would appear not to be eligible under those Supp Regs we don't follow....

Panama?

1.) Where does it say one has to be a Points card holder. (rhetorical, it doesn't, must be a CalClub SCCA member)
2.) I'm running for '09, you're posting my '08 status.

Its says SCCA/CSCC member, which I read differently than "CalClub SCCA member".

I am mystified why my club should consider voting for somebody to be chairman in '09 who did not join in '08? It brings back memories of your bragging about running the ProSolo season without the required ProSolo license. I have no doubt Jayson would do a great job as our chairman, but I cannot figure out how his ideas about membership mesh with his desire to lead that membership.

Well it certainly doesn't say 'Point Card Holder'. I actually asked for that sentance to be clarified way back on Mar 24, 2004 (My outgoing e-mail is nicely archived here at work) when the rule committee was doing general clean up.

My reason's for not joining a club in '08 were multiple, but none of them had to do with 'ideas about membership', good or bad. They were in this order 1.) I wanted a soft transistion from SCNAX. I considered myself core in that club and felt like a out right switch would be 'bailing'. 2.) I felt like the region could use 'general' help. Being tied to a club kinda guides what weekends you help, and in SCNAXes case, what weekends I was going to burn myself out on. I wanted to spend the year focusing on the Divisional and other of my pet projects that benifit the region as a whole rather narrowing focus on specific regional races. 3.) Points minipulation for my co-driver. Early schedules looked like I wouldn't get enough events in to get a jacket and I didn't want to hurt his chances by taking any top points away (which often was irrelvant anyways).

I've been planning to get a points card in '09 since the end of '07.
