Originally, I was asking about a specific product, the Qtarz BT-Q1000eX. Although I get a good "track" around the neighborhood with the unit on the dash of the car, I cannot seem to get data when walking or riding a bicycle. When the software "reads" the log, there IS data there based on the the numbers that download, but it does not display graphically in the Qstarz software. This is only happening when walking or riding a bike...not when in a car driving around the neighborhood. It is supposed to work either way. So, I'm thinking it has to do with lap completion, although I thought I HAD fully complete laps when I walked or rode the bicycle.
Aside from any ideas you might have, I have a more generic question that relates to how you use a stand-alone GPS to mark the course while walking when "laps" are what is being required. My software DOES allow for Autocross type racing. It refers to it as Rally Racing in the menu...different START location from the FINISH location. I'm aware that smartphones with apps allow for line "segments", as opposed to complete laps. To my knowledge, so does my standalone GPS. But it seems you close the loop to get recording, then "Beacon" the start and finish, and the software removes the portion in between to set the actual course. So from a practical standpoint, how to I go about this onsite?

Re: Qstarz GPS Products
I've never used a QStarz device, so I can't speak to it specifically. However, I know my BadElf logger device has an auto-record setting that can be set to walking, driving, or flying (or something like that) which in effect changes the speed at which you have to be traveling before it starts logging. Perhaps your QStarz device has a similar setting?
Re: Qstarz GPS Products
As far as my settings, I have either OFF, 1hz or 5hz. I was wondering about the "hz" selection, but it now turns out that I may not have been technically completing a lap while walking...START at one point and FINISH at another point. The thought is that I need to actually complete a lap to get the software to record a "track". Then after SETTING start and finish within the software, the software will adjust the track. I have not tested this with a "walk", but I will this evening.Jeff Stuart wrote:I've never used a QStarz device, so I can't speak to it specifically. Re: Qstarz GPS Products
The software to which I was referring is the software that came with the GPS lap timer...called QRacing. It allows for comparison of laps and user-defined lap segments, probably not much different than others out there. Once I get to video and overlays, the "track" can be imported into Race Render, which I'm planning to use. Nothing like coming late to the party. If you look at Guy Walker's CHAMP video from the last event, that's what I'm after, except he's using the iPhone variation, whereas I'm not...yet.Jeff Stuart wrote:What software are you using?Ed Holley wrote:As far as my settings, I have either OFF, 1hz or 5hz.
