Some of those were good for a less than quarter page a week. They got all PC back in the 1990s and dropped the ads for strip clubs. Economy was better than now; more retail advertisers duking it out for prime space in the A section of the paper. They could afford to be picky. Besides, they were trying to attract more female sports fans to the section.
