Yeah, the unemployed autocrossers thread might be an idea.

I just started here, and this news is all over the company
But Kaiser officials say the husband's termination was for cause and not related to layoffs. Regardless, an act of hopelessness such as this isn't surprising given the current economy.

However, no state of desperation can justify such acts, and I would hope that any of us in the Solo community would reach out before things got anywhere close to that bad.

I heard, don't know if its true, that the wife was fired for falsifying her background. The husband was fired for causing constant disruption and threats after the wife was fired.

Big hit to have husband and wife both fired from the same employer, but it sure sounds like 130% the fault of the two murderous idiots.

There is also a rumor being promulgated by black activists that a Kaiser employee told the dad, "why did you come to work today, why didn't you just stay home and blow your brains out." Kaiser denies it was said. But I can imagine how it might have happened. The belligerant asshole is causing a commotion and disruption everyday at work and threatening to kill himself, I'd likely tell the bastard, "please, please...."

As I reminded someone the other day.
Sometimes it pays to look at the upside of these horrible news stories.
These guys are completely out of the gene pool. So there is little likelihood of them taking normal people out with them.

As far as unemployment, it is interesting to read how the news covers this issue.
It is almost impossible to find coverage of the many companies that are hiring (although there are many). Also remember, that as bad as things are, over 93% of Americans are employed right now.
Additionally, with approximately 13 million illegal aliens roaming the streets and in the work force. I think the accuracy of unemployment numbers is also suspect by at least the 4% portion that they make up of society.

The unemployment figure doesn't include those no longer filing for benefits. The reported figure is probably a few points lower than reality. As for 93% of Americans working, that figure only applies to civilian work force [143.3m employed out of a pool of 154.5m]. 11m unemployed; 80m not in the labor force.

Well if you want to get technical see below.
I am just saying that it is easy to read and listen to the self admitted left biased media version of the news (IMHO everything after the date in the LA times is opinion) and forget that the vast majority of people legal or illegal are gainfully employed.

That's because the read Sports, which is a section nearly devoid of ads and has been for more than a decade.

Daily News, LB Press-Telegram, Daily Breeze employees have just been told they need to take a week off without pay.

Some of those were good for a less than quarter page a week. They got all PC back in the 1990s and dropped the ads for strip clubs. Luckily for the club down near the press plant along the 10, composing room and press plant guys made sure they did a good business.

For the jobseekers, the web site indeed.com seems to be good as it looks at many career websites such as Monster etc. It also looks at company websites.

Does anyone else have any good sites that they use for job searching?

Thanks,

Kathy

do you have a profile up on linkedin.com?

i don't know how well it actually works in practice, but i signed up because a few friends bugged me with invites, so i created a profile a while ago.

since creating the profile, and having only 5 contacts, i've gotten 4 e-mails soliciting me to change jobs, never mind that I'm not actually looking for one.

you've gotta be careful who you have for a reference on sites like that though. it's not like Myspace where having 42908763506987 friends is a good thing.

Economy was better than now; more retail advertisers duking it out for prime space in the A section of the paper. They could afford to be picky. Besides, they were trying to attract more female sports fans to the section. All the people involved in that decision are long gone.

I have a profile on LinkedIn. I know people with hundreds of contacts, but they're PR or sales folks.

My undergrad students are participating in a job faire today in Long Beach with a record number of employers participating. The career counselor swears that she can't fill all the tech and defense jobs she gets listings for. She says still jobs for grads with the right skillsets. Have no idea what those are, or what the salary outlook is like. I'd think both tech and defense would be getting hurt right now.
