SK will be broken out from AM at registration. They will not qualify for the Super Challenge but will be eligible for the Bonus Challenge.

AM is just a holding tank for the SK guys since National doesn't have SK as a selectable option.

So are we running heads up against AM? Tom, Mark, do either of you know how this is going to work? For the Pro, if we have a class, will we also qualify for the challenge, or will SK1 & SK2 be excluded from qualification. Things to know to make an informed decision of where to run.

Also, There will be a $ or "Bonus Bucks" pay out for the SK classes. They will take a percentage of the proceeds from the "Local Classes" and pay it back as top prizes. And trophies will be awarded in these classes just like regular Pro Solo classes.

Dont forget ! you have only till friday to sign up for the regular price. Or face the wrath of Mike Simanyi !

Since I can't afford to be competitive for the Tour & Pro this year in STS, and the only "unmod" I have to do at this time is put the stock air box back in...

SK2 will limit me to stock sized rims (aka 14") is the Falcon 615 still the best tire in a 14, or is there something better in that size. (The Acura has thread showing on 3 of the 4 tire as of today, and needs new tires anyway...)

Does someone have a set of the 14x6 hollows I could borrow for two weeks for the events?

I have a novice questions......Is there a stock tire (SK1) class for this event?

Thanks,

Yes, by special arrangement Sk1 & Sk2 are running both the Tour and the Pro. Sign up in AM and they'll sort it out when you check in.

Mark Sipe asked on the SCCAFORUMS about a tire place near El Toro with experience mounting race tires.
Any ideas for him?

I was thinking of Tucker, but I looked it up and the only location I saw was Laguna Niguel which looked quite a ways South on their map.

I have used American Tire & Wheel on Via Fabricante off Alicia for years. It is closer and less busy then Tucker.
There is also an Americas Tire on Aspan off Lake Forest Blvd. I wasn't impressed with them the one time I used them.

I use Finishline in Mission Viejo

John has a really nice brand new tire machine and he seems to enjoy my racing stories.

He also has real nice alignment equipment and is open Sat till 3

The new motor for the Strong's ES Miata should be arriving any day and going in this weekend. If all goes well (or at least OK) we are planning on running the Pro Solo. However, due to the severe impact of the cost of a new motor (even with the great deal from Mazda Motorsport) on the tire budget, we will be running SK2 unless someone has a great deal on a set of used 14" R-compound tires...

We were planning on a new set of Kumho 710's, but they are now on hold.

We hope to see you all there.

Someone on this message board is selling a pretty new set of 225/50/15 710's on new SSR's ... but I'm guessing you're stuck with 14's ... and the 50's are probably too tall anyway.

I have an obvious newby question --

It seems like there is not an SK1 index for the Ladies classes -- am I right?

I'm running BS, but frankly I need a new class, Ridiculously Stock.

Thanks everyone, I'm really looking forward to my it!

Any more workers needed for Friday?

I've sent a couple of emails over the past weeks to Tom Berry, but have not received any reply.

I'm available pretty much all day. Anyone with any news, please email me through the board link.

Quick and dirty answer is that if you show up on Friday wanting to help then we will put you to work. :D It might not count as your work assignment but if you have the time to spare then we will never turn away a helping hand.
