New King of fastrack! (i'll change it in a bit)

Interesing:

Data Collection: Multiple reasons for implementing: customer requests for common Registration systems, data to make decisions
on programs, automatic driver renewals. Current Registration System: Avectra not designed for Regional use per event. Looking
for registration system to use across board for race, solo, rally, TT. This system should then feed central data base. Idea is
to find a common system and offer to Regions but not make mandatory. Process: Recommendations and directions to be
presented to the BoD.

'The SEB has directed the STAC to review the tire treadwear rating minimum value requirement'

NOT RECOMMENDED
- Prepared: Add Toyota Yaris, Honda Fit to GP Limited-prep (ref. 09-689) Comment: the PAC will be evaluating potential
impacts of classing newer-technology cars with older ones.

Clearly the Yaris is to much car for the old British iron (rust) to keep up with. Oh well, we will just keep it on the track.

Gone unchecked, how much longer do you think it will be before a V710-like tire wears a 140?

Yeah.... Those cheater $115 tires from companies offering contingency programs and marketing partnerships are just killing the sport.

Shouldn't be too hard considering I know a certain fellow who got 16k miles out of a set of Hoosier Wets on his work truck. Just print 140 on the side of them and call it a day.

So, you raise the number from 140 to 180? Accomplishes nothing if your problem is blatant manipulation of the treadwear number. That's why the ST category has a tire exclusion list. You don't play straight, your tire gets excluded. Simple. If the rules making body lacks the integrity to boot a sponsor that cheats, then that's a whole other problem.

I had a marketing guy from another tire company years ago tell me his previous generation R tire could make 140 easy.

Sure, ST has an exclusion list, but cherry picking what tires go on/come off, not a job I want.

I agree it changes nothing. I would hope they are looking at things beyond the TW.

How do you decide who cheated and who has the real 140? Some of these guys are currently putting 140 on a tire because it markets better - oh everyone will think it is soft and fast if it says 140. There are tires on the market now with higher than 140 that are quicker than the lower stuff. It is just a number on a sidewall, you will need to come up with a better policy than that number to exclude people imho. Or open your pockets to pay for a third party tester.

I think the current crop of tires are great for the class. Do you freeze the class to prevent one company from ruining it for everyone else? How?

Can we please just get through one year with a stable ruleset in the ST category? I don't have a problem with the rules, I just wish they would stay the same for a while.

Just S#!t or get off the pot...

Well I guess that's the big plus for prep and mod, rules are pretty much the same, year after year.
