Need a couple of '03 Z06 lug nuts (M12 1.5)

Post by Mako Koiwai »

M12 1.5

I was able to clean up the studs and lug nuts, but the nuts are a bit loose now. Stud's seem OK when using good nuts, but I lost too much metal on the galled nuts.

If you have a couple that Karen can use on Sunday, I will buy you new ones. I won't be able to probably buy tomorrow since I'm helping at the Ladies School

Got a box full in my garage, but the garage is in Carlsbad & I'm not in the event, so that's not much help. You should be able to pick up a nut that'll work at most napa/pepboy/kragen tonight. it's not a Vette specific part.

Most Vette guys (that come prepared) will have a couple of spare studs/nuts in their tool bag. Or someone with a prepped Camaro.

Is there something special about them? I can send some generic ones from my toolbox with Stacey tomorrow just in case you don't get offered what you want.

The Miata also uses a M12 1.5, just pull one off there.

Only need to be as long as the stud is thick. A lot of the longer nuts are not even threaded all the way. :unimpressed:

Note the lack of threads in the end of this C4 style lug.

OK ... we've got a LOT of brand new short Miata lug nuts ... I think we can save a few ounces that way. Look out Richard Warriner! (Karen) :gpower:

Lug nut should have a bulge or you will "drill" into the c5 rim.

Above has the bulge AND threaded shank, whuch I prefer. Lot more thread engagement.

The problem with the Miata nuts ended up being that it didn't have that collar like the Vette one on the left. The temporary Miata one was OK for the few runs today. Replacing with oem soon.

In the lug nut business they call it the bulge. Just so if you order some online from a source who knows the product, they will understand what you need.

You should go open end.
